Top 5 Entertainment Options to See at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Who’s up for some awesome entertainment?! Perfect – just make a trip to Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park for some incredible and exciting shows, street performances, and more! Here’s our count down of the top five entertainment selection to experience at Animal Kingdom.

5 – UP! A Great Bird Adventure

There’s a show in Animal Kingdom and we’re wild for it! Senior Wilderness Explorer Russell and his furry pal Dug from Disney•Pixar’s animated hit film UP join bird experts on a new adventure featuring encounters with birds from around the world. UP! A Great Bird Adventure replaces Flights of Wonder and provides a nice upgrade that should make the show more engaging for the younger visitor. The birds perform tricks and beautiful flights for the two hosts who aim, along with Up stars Russell and Doug, to teach guests about the importance of conservation and preservation.UP! A Great Bird Adventure is truly an amazing show that can’t be missed in Disney’s Animal Kingdom!

4 – Tree of Life Awakenings

With the new nighttime events taking place at Animal Kingdom, it’s hard to imagine Animal Kingdom now without them! As if the Tree of Life wasn’t outstanding all on its own, it now awakens at nightfall. It is said the animal spirits come to life through the beautiful light display that dances all around the Tree of Life. The vivid colors flicker and glow on the tree roughly every 10 minutes. It’s easy to stand in awe of the beauty and wait to see what happens next!

3 – Rivers of Light: We Are One

Rivers of Light: We Are One, the nighttime show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, is now showing nightly. This reimagined version of the show introduces additional, stunning imagery and familiar animal characters from Disneynature films, along with a colorful tapestry of classic moments from Disney animation. You don’t want to miss it!

2 – Finding Nemo – The Musical

All the hype lately is about the newly released, Disney’s Finding Dory. Our love for Dory, however, grew in the Finding Nemo movie! Check out Nemo and Dory in Animal Kingdom’s Finding Nemo – The Musical. Easily making our list for top entertainment spots at Animal Kingdom, this 40-minute live stage performance and musical is among the most incredible we’ve ever seen. The performers are spectacular at what they do, with phenomenal voices that sound just like the real characters from the movie! The props are so beautiful and greatly detailed. Plus, it doesn’t matter where you sit in the indoor auditorium, you’ll have a great view of the show taking place on stage and on the aisles around you. Kids, grab your parents – or parents, grab your kids, and “hang ten” into this totally awesome show!

1 – Festival of the Lion King

We absolutely love the Festival of the Lion King! We can’t get enough of this spectacular Broadway-style live show that is 30-minutes of packed entertainment. The wild characters, the vibrant costumes, the incredible performers, the engaging music, the crowd excitement – it’s all so fascinating! One of our favorite parts is watching the talented and silly Tumble Monkeys as they bounce around from rings and bars above the stage floor. We also love the flame twirling entertainer which comes out near the end of the show. Check in advance for showtimes (we’ve seen as many as 10 shows a day) so you can be sure to add this one to your plans. Our top recommendation while watching the Festival of the Lion King – don’t blink… you’ll miss something! This is exactly why going back to this show time and time again never gets old.

We have had a long time love affair with Disney. We love the magic and the memories we've made at Walt Disney World! We follow all things Disney and have great experiences with being Annual Passholders, Disney Vacation Club Members, and RunDisney participants. From lodging to dining to Genie+ we have a spreadsheet for every occasion. Usually there isn’t a day that passes without some discussion of the master plan of our next trip to the happiest place on earth. Most people think we’re normal – until they travel to Disney with us.
