NEWS: New Attraction Announced at Hollywood Studios

Departing from their current policy of closing an attraction every other week at Hollywood Studios, Disney has announced the addition of a new entertainment option being added to the Sunset Boulevard area of the park. Club Disney, another dance party experience, will open December 5 in the brand new Sunset Showcase Theater.

From the Disney Parks Blog:

“Club Disney, [will be] the hottest spot in town for kids and characters alike! You can join Mickey and the gang and take to the dance floor in this electric club environment, where a DJ Club Host spins the perfect playlist mix of your favorite Radio Disney Top 40 songs as the floor and walls come alive with vivid images from classic Disney animation.

Club Disney will also feature a cool seating area and snack station, where you can refuel and recharge – both yourself and your electronic devices – before heading out for more adventures in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.”

The Sunset Showcase Theater is located at the end of Sunset Boulevard next to the Rock “n” Roller Coaster entrance. The theater is built to accommodate a variety of different shows and is replacing the Premier Theater in Streets of America. Premier Theater has closed and is expected to be removed to make way for the upcoming Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land expansions.

While not exactly breaking new ground with this new dance party, it will be nice to have an indoor option where kids can let off some steam and parents can enjoy some air conditioning.

Chad Nykamp

Husband, father and lover of all things Disney. Like every kid, I loved Disney and the couple trips I took to Disney World in my early years are good memories. But my obsession began in 2004 when we made our first family visit. It's hard to believe that we almost cancelled the trip because it seemed like a lot of work with 3 very little kids. We were hooked by the end of the first day. By day 3 we were planning our next trip back. By day 5 we were doing the math on DVC. And by the end of the vacation everyone was crying the blues that we had to leave. Since then, Disney World has become our favorite vacation destination, a hobby and now a home. We love the detail of the story telling and the memories of time spent with friends and family.
