6 Tips for Night of Joy at Magic Kingdom

On September 11 & 12, 2015, Disney will be hosting Night of Joy in the Magic Kingdom. Night of Joy is two nights of nonstop music showcasing many of the biggest names of the Christian Music scene. As exciting as this event is, it can be chaotic to the point of being overwhelming. For maximum enjoyment you need to be prepared. Here are 6 tips for planning your Night of Joy weekend!

6 – Special Event, Special Ticket

Night of Joy is a special event requiring a separate admission ticket. 2015 prices are $65 for one night or $115 for both Friday and Saturday evenings. If you have a group of 10 or more, a special reduced rate is also available up to two weeks before. Visit nightofjoy.com for more information.

This is a great value! A typical concert ticket for 2 music acts (headliner and opener) can run anywhere from $25-$50 for most Christian acts, or over $100 for other music acts. Each night features 9 acts on three different stages. At $65, the evening’s admission is a great deal, especially when you add the fact that you are at Magic Kingdom and mostly all of the attractions are open.

Night of Joy tickets can be purchased from the Disney World Website. Group discounts are also available.

5 – Come Early, Stay Late

While the event runs from 7:30 p.m. – 1:00 a.m., guests with a Night of Joy ticket can actually enter the park as early as 4:00 p.m. That is 9 hours of Magic Kingdom, almost an entire day, for only $65. These special events are an excellent way to experience the park at a reduced rate.

TIP: Ticket holders can enter the park beginning at 4:00 pm so this is a great way to get a lot of time in at the Magic Kingdom without burning a full price ticket.

4 – Be Prepared for Bad Weather

When we went to Night of Joy in 2010, we had thunderstorms off and on all evening. With the safety of the performers ensured, the show went on. In fact, we assumed Third Day, who was to perform on the Main Stage, would be at least delayed or cancelled. Much to our delight, the band played in the rain! So don’t make our mistake and assume any schedule changes. If the weather is too dangerous, Disney will make the proper adjustments and let the crowd know.

3 – Expect lively crowds

Special events usually bring in large crowds and this event is no exception. The Castle Forecourt stage, in front of Cinderella Castle, will be especially crowded as that stage is reserved for the headlining acts. Most people are respectful and don’t block views with posters, children or dreaded iPads! If you want to have a good spot, you’ll need to get there early. Be aware of the schedule (see tip #2) and plan your ride times accordingly.
