One of our favorite family holiday traditions is taking an afternoon or two to visit different Disney World resorts and see the wonderful holiday trees and displays. Disney creativity and magic take center stage with the yearly tradition of creating amazing edible gingerbread displays! There are five gingerbread holiday creations and an extra bonus stop full of holiday magic that are waiting to be discovered. Here’s what you need to know about the delectable edible holiday creations at Disney World.
1 – A Frozen Gingerbread World, Disney’s Contemporary Resort
You’ll find a fun and unique gingerbread house at Disney’s Contemporary Resort until January 6, 2016. This 17-foot display was inspired by the designs of “it’s a small world” artist and Disney Legend, Mary Blair and of course, the ever popular animated feature, Frozen. The display features a castle with cookie figures of Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, and Sven. There is also a very cute sandcastle with a cookie figure of Olaf and a little snowman from Frozen Fever. The structure boasts 311 lbs. of honey, 514 lbs. of flour, 273 eggs, 67 lbs. of spices, 35 lbs. of sugar syrup, 222 lbs. icing, 423 lbs. of chocolate, and more than 1500 gingerbread shingles. Be on the lookout for 15 hidden Olafs on the display! While you can’t eat the house, there is a shop nearby that sells a special blue raspberry cake, Frozen gelato, plus gingerbread and sugar cookies, snowflake ornaments, linzer and chocolate-peppermint cookies. You can also purchase a build-your-own snowman kit.
2 – Ginger’s Bread and Cookie Shoppe, Disney’s Boardwalk Resort
