9 Things We Love About the Happily Ever After Fireworks Dessert Party at Disney World

Happily Ever After Fireworks Dessert Party is an event that is available for an extra charge in addition to the required Magic Kingdom park admission where you get to enjoy a dessert party and Happily Ever After firework viewing from the Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant and garden viewing.  The party is exclusive with a set number of tickets sold to the event, and only those with an event ticket will be allowed in the area.  Many people ask if it is worth the money, which can be very difficult to put a dollar to dollar value on when you are also ranking the value of the experience.  Maybe after you review 9 things we love about the event, you can see why we definitely think it is worth money.

9 – Three Party Options

There are now three different party options with the Fireworks Dessert Party. First, option 1 is viewing at the Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant with seated viewing and the second, option 2, is Plaza Garden viewing from the Hub area. Both options will allow you to enjoy plentiful desserts at the restaurant before the show. As showtime nears, about 15 minutes before the show, those with Plaza Garden viewing, will be escorted to the Hub gardens for priority viewing of the nighttime fireworks spectacular. Those with option 1 will be able to view the fireworks show from the Terrace. There is a price difference between the two options. The seating option in the Terrace is $84 per adult and $50 per child. Plaza Garden viewing is $69 per adult and $41 per child. You’ll want to consider how much a seat for the evening is worth it to you. For information on the final option, the recently announced After Fireworks Dessert Party, read #1 of this article!

8 – Two Seating Options

For those who have chosen the seated viewing option, upon check-in, you will receive a VIP band and then be able to select your seats. You will have those seats for the whole night. For those who opt for the Plaza Garden Viewing, you will have access to desserts and viewing in the back of the Plaza. Seating is not assigned and is open to all Plaza Viewing guests. This area is a more crowded than the assigned seating option. You will leave the Terrace area for fireworks viewing with this second option.

7 – Elegant Atmosphere and Décor

The tables at the event have a dark tablecloth draped over them, along with a beautiful lantern on the table.  It sets the mood for an elegant evening with your loved ones.  The cast members also seat you with a champagne flute (plastic) of sparkling apple cider to have a toast to start your evening. It’s a toast the whole family can participate in and enjoy the elegance of the evening.  Everything really is done top notch for the event.

6 – Delicious Desserts

The desserts at the event are absolutely amazing, and there are so many different options.  You have options like cannoli, classic tiramisu, character cupcakes, cheesecake, peanut butter desserts, chocolate covered strawberries, dipped rice crispy treats, chocolate mousse, parfaits, etc.  The desserts are all you care to enjoy and served buffet style so you don’t have to be shy about loading up on all of your favorites.  To top it off there is an ice cream section where cast members will scoop you out a bowl of ice cream and you have various toppings to choose from.  Don’t forget the whipped cream and cherry to go on top!  This is definitely an event that you will want to come hungry for and probably get prepared to walk a lot the next day to make up for it!  If you are worried about staving off the diabetic coma, you will be glad to know that there is also cheese and crackers at the event as well as a fruit platter so that you do have a couple other options to mix in with all the sugary desserts!

The bountiful buffet may include such favorites as:

  • Chocolate-dipped strawberries
  • Disney character-themed desserts
  • Ice cream
  • Create-your-own cookie

And you can toast your day of park fun and the incredible experience ahead with an enticing selection of beverages including:

  • Sparkling cider
  • Hot chocolate
  • Signature lemonades
  • Coffee
  • Tea

5 – A Wide Variety of Non-alcoholic Drink Options

This isn’t just a coffee, tea or water type of event.  We already talked about the sparkling apple cider.  For cold drinks, there is also milk, juices, lemonades, water and unsweetened tea.  For the hot drinks, there are coffees, an assortment of hot teas, and my personal favorite, the hot drinking chocolate.  The hot drinking chocolate is rich, creamy and decadent and is perfect to sip on while you enjoy the event and the upcoming fireworks.

4 – No Fighting the Crowds

Even if the event is sold out, the number of people won’t exceed the number of tables available to host the guests.  This gives you a lot more breathing room and a place to set down your bags and other items you are carrying so that you can enjoy yourself.  You don’t have people trying to herd through you and your family as you would encounter standing in the viewing locations on Main Street.  You also don’t have to stand while you wait for the show since you have a comfortable table to enjoy until show time.  After a long day in the parks, the last thing you want to do is stand on your feet for an hour waiting for a great spot if you don’t have to.  You also don’t even have to stand during the show if you don’t want to.  You would likely still be able to see from your table or from a seated spot if you or someone in your party has trouble standing.  This is another luxury that isn’t available for the Main Street guests.

3 – Impeccable Service

We experienced absolutely amazing service during the entire event.  The cast members were extremely helpful and added to the experience.  They made the experience upbeat and perfectly executed the event.  The buffet areas stayed clean and presentable no matter what point of the evening it is and the cast members seemed genuinely happy to have us there.  It is definitely up to the level of service that you would expect for this type of event.

2 – The Amazing Views!

You do get an amazing view of the show.  Now, this isn’t necessarily the BEST view of the show, but all things considered, it is still an amazing option.  Tomorrowland Terrace is to the right of the castle (when facing the castle) so you don’t get a straight vantage point of the show, but we didn’t mind at all.  The show was still amazing and one of the most comfortable ways to enjoy it.

Note from Mike and Jamie who recently enjoyed the fireworks party using option 1: “When the fireworks were about to begin were able to move our chairs up to the edge of the terrace so we could see above the Castle. We were fortunate to have a great spot as far left as possible so we could still see the front of the Castle, versus those that were getting more of a side/tree view. If you want to see the projections and fireworks the best possible way, I believe the Plaza Garden viewing option is better. We too loved Happily Ever After! Absolutely amazing. For our group – one in a wheelchair, a two-year-old, and another that doesn’t do well in crowds, the extra $20 per person was well worth it. We could spread out, sit, and take it in without being squeezed. I would say first timers that don’t need a seat should see it straight on in front of the castle. For second timers, or for those that need some space – the Terrace was awesome. “

1 – After Fireworks Dessert Party!

Disney recently announced an additional option for those who want reserved fireworks viewing but want to enjoy the desserts after the fireworks. The After Fireworks Dessert Party features reserved viewing in the Plaza Garden and a spread of delicious foods to enjoy afterward instead of before. On the menu for this sweet experience are treats inspired by each of the lands of Magic Kingdom Park. Among the offerings are the S’mores Action Station (Frontierland), Pineapple Delights (Adventureland), Ooey Gooey Toffee Cakes (Liberty Square), Macarons (Fantasyland), a Cookie Table (Tomorrowland), and Strawberry Tarts (Main Street U.S.A.). But there’s more than just desserts! Savory snacks include cheese cubes, spinach dip with crackers, and house-made mini eggrolls. Fresh fruit is also available along with refreshing beverages such as sparkling apple juice, coffee, tea, and milk. Pricing is $69 for adults and $41 for children. Online reservations will be available starting on May 24. Disney has assured guests that the additional party guests will not overwhelm the Plaza Garden. Disney Cast member Alex Dunlap said, “There is a limited number of guest reservations for the new After Fireworks Dessert Party to ensure that everyone viewing fireworks from the Plaza Garden area will have plenty of space and great views that we know are so important.”

About Christy Caby

Hi! I’m Christy, and I am a wife and mother of 2 young boys (ages 5 and 2). I first fell in love with Disney when my mom took me when I was a child. After that I proceeded to go to WDW for my senior trip with my friends, and I completed a year in the Disney College Program (working in merchandise at Mickey’s of Hollywood at Disney’s Hollywood Studios). I shared my love of Disney with my now husband and sucked him in. He proposed at Disney, we honeymooned at Disney, we started bringing our boys before they were born and then as early as 8 weeks old. We then continued to vacation to Walt Disney World 2-3 times per year. We decided that what makes more sense than just moving to Orlando so that we could live the Disney life and be here for all of our favorite events and seasons every year. That is exactly what we did! Now we are at the parks a couple times a week and go for most events and major holidays. We can’t get enough and get to experience Disney in a whole different way. I love to share this love and passion for all things Disney with the world and hope that I can help others appreciate the magic that Walt Disney World has to offer!
