7 Things We Love About the Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Party at Disney World

The Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Party is an event that is available for an extra charge in addition to the required Magic Kingdom park admission, where you get to enjoy a dessert party and Happily Ever After fireworks viewing from the Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant or from the Plaza Garden. The party is exclusive with a set number of tickets sold to the event; only those with an event ticket will be allowed in the area.  Many people ask if it is worth the money, which can be very difficult to put a dollar-to-dollar value on when you are also ranking the value of the experience.  Maybe after you review seven things we love about the event, you can see why we definitely think it is worth the money.

7 – Different Party Options

There are now three different party options with the Fireworks Dessert Party. All of the options allow you to enjoy plentiful desserts at the restaurant. First, option 1 is Treats & Seats viewing at the Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant with guaranteed seated viewing. For those who have chosen the seated viewing option, upon check-in, you will receive a VIP band and then be able to select your seats. You will have those seats for the whole night and can view the fireworks show from the Terrace.

The second option offers Plaza Garden viewing from the Hub area, and you enjoy your desserts before or after the fireworks. For those who opt for the Plaza Garden Viewing, you will have access to desserts and viewing in the back of the Tomorrowland Terrace. Seating is not assigned and is open to all Plaza Viewing guests. This area is more crowded than the assigned seating option. As showtime nears, about 15 minutes before the show, those with Plaza Garden viewing will be escorted to the Plaza Garden for priority viewing of the nighttime fireworks spectacular. Guests who choose the After Party option will enjoy the fireworks first in the Plaza Garden and then head to Tomorrowland Terrace for the desserts.

There is a price difference between the options. The seating option in the Terrace is $114 per adult and $69 per child. Plaza Garden viewing is $99 per adult and $59 per child for both the Pre-Party and After-Party options. The price is certainly high. You’ll want to consider how much a seat or a guaranteed spot in the Plaza Garden for the evening is worth it to you.

6 – Elegant Atmosphere and Décor

The tables at the event have a dark tablecloth draped over them, along with a beautiful lantern on the table. It sets the mood for an elegant evening with your loved ones. The cast members also seat you with a champagne flute (plastic) of sparkling apple cider to have a toast to start your evening. It’s a toast the whole family can participate in and enjoy the elegance of the evening. Everything really is done top-notch for the event.

5 – Delicious Desserts

The desserts at the event are absolutely amazing, and there are so many different options. Currently, the party offers many different desserts, including chocolate-dipped strawberries, butterscotch pudding, and a variety of cheese. The desserts are all you care to enjoy and are served buffet style, so you don’t have to be shy about loading up on all of your favorites. To top it off, there is an ice cream section where cast members will scoop you out a bowl of ice cream, and you have various toppings to choose from. Don’t forget the whipped cream and cherry to go on top! You will want to come hungry for this event, and probably prepare to walk a lot the next day to make up for it! If you are worried about staving off the diabetic coma, you will be glad to know that there is also cheese and crackers at the event, as well as a fruit platter so that you do have a couple of other options to mix in with all the sugary desserts!

4 – A Wide Variety of Drink Options

This isn’t just a coffee, tea, or water type of event. We already talked about sparkling apple cider. There is also milk, juices, lemonade, water, and unsweetened tea for cold drinks. The event now also includes an assortment of beer and wine for guests ages 21 and over. For the hot drinks, there are coffees, an assortment of hot beverages, and my personal favorite, the hot drinking chocolate. The hot drinking chocolate is rich, creamy, and decadent and is perfect for sipping on while you enjoy the event and the upcoming fireworks.

3 – No Fighting the Crowds

Even if the event is sold out, with the seated option, the number of people won’t exceed the number of tables available to host the guests. This gives you a lot more breathing room and a place to set down your bags and other items you are carrying so that you can enjoy yourself. You don’t have people trying to herd through you and your family as you would encounter standing in the viewing locations on Main Street. You also don’t have to stand while you wait for the show since you have a comfortable table to enjoy until showtime. After a long day in the parks, the last thing you want to do is stand on your feet for an hour, waiting for a great spot if you don’t have to. You also don’t even have to stand during the show if you don’t want to. You would likely still be able to see from your table or from a seated spot if you or someone in your party has trouble standing. This is another luxury that isn’t available for the Main Street guests. While the Hub Garden is a bit more crowded, there is plenty of room to stand and enjoy the fireworks.

2 – Impeccable Service

We experienced absolutely fantastic service during the entire event. The cast members were accommodating and added to the experience. They made the experience upbeat and perfectly executed the event. The buffet areas stayed clean and presentable no matter what point of the evening it was, and the cast members seemed genuinely happy to have us there. It is definitely up to the level of service that you would expect for this type of event.

1 – The Amazing Views!

You do get a fantastic view of Happily Ever After. Now, this isn’t necessarily the BEST view of the show, but all things considered, it is still an excellent option. Tomorrowland Terrace is to the right of the castle (facing the castle), so you don’t get a straight vantage point of the show, but we didn’t mind. The show was still amazing and one of the most comfortable ways to enjoy it.

Note from Matt and Kim, who enjoyed the fireworks party using option 1: “When the fireworks were about to begin were able to move our chairs up to the edge of the terrace so we could see above the castle. We were fortunate to have a great spot as far left as possible so we could still see the front of the castle versus those that were getting more of a side/tree view. If you want to see the projections and fireworks in the best possible way, I believe the Plaza Garden viewing option is better. For our group – one in a wheelchair, a two-year-old, and another that doesn’t do well in crowds, the extra $15 per person was well worth it. We could spread out, sit, and take it in without being squeezed. I would say first-timers that don’t need a seat should see it straight on in front of the castle. The terrace was excellent for second-timers or those needing some space.”

Kristin

Hi! I’m Kristin, and I am a wife and mother of 2 young boys (ages 5 and 2). I first fell in love with Disney when my mom took me when I was a child. After that I proceeded to go to WDW for my senior trip with my friends, and I completed a year in the Disney College Program (working in merchandise at Mickey’s of Hollywood at Disney’s Hollywood Studios). I shared my love of Disney with my now husband and sucked him in. We vacationed at Walt Disney World 2-3 times per year. We decided that what maked more sense was just moving to Orlando so that we could live the Disney life and be here for all of our favorite events and seasons every year. That is exactly what we did! Now we are at the parks a couple times a week and go for most events and major holidays. We can’t get enough and get to experience Disney in a whole different way.
