Best Meals for Kids at Disney World: Leave Behind the Chicken Nuggets

Food at Disney might be exciting for us adults – but for our kiddos – it’s like food heaven! Chicken nuggets, burgers, pizza, macaroni and cheese, corn dogs, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches… Disney has it all. But, we say every now and then leave behind these staple foods and let your child venture into something different. We’ve made an easy guide to some of the best kids’ meals at the Disney World theme parks. We hope your kids find themselves loving something below even more than their beloved chicken nuggets!

Magic Kingdom

1 – Mickey Meatloaf or Grilled Cheese & Turkey Noodle Soup @ Be Our Guest Restaurant, Quick Service Located in Fantasyland

Your kids may think – eeww, meatloaf! But this turkey meatloaf for lunch is delicious with broccoli florets, zucchini, and “orange stuff” for dipping. The Grilled Cheese and Turkey Noodle Soup also comes with tasty green beans.

2 – New England Pot Roast @ Liberty Tree Tavern, Table Service Located in Liberty Square

Moist pot roast served with kids’ favorite mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. Make a reservation or stop by to dine in at this restaurant.

3 – Sizzling Savanna-grilled Flank Steak @ Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen, Table Service Located in Adventureland

Let your little one feel like a big boy/girl as they enjoy some sizzling steak with steamed broccoli, fingerling potatoes, and fresh fruit at this new restaurant.

4 – Spaghetti and Meatball @ Tony’s Town Square, Table Service Located in Main Street U.S.A.

Likely better than Mom’s spaghetti, Tony’s serves up a large dish of a kid’s favorite spaghetti and meatball that they’ll surely need a napkin for!

Hollywood Studios

1 – Dark Side Chicken and Waffles @ Backlot Express, Quick Service Located in Echo Lake

The name of this one sells to kids immediately! Chicken and Vader Waffles with maple syrup are served with a Dannon Danimals smoothie and carrot sticks.

2 – Mickey’s Chicken Pot Pie or Daddy’s Pot Roast Sandwich @ 50’s Prime Time Café, Table Service Located in Echo Lake

We couldn’t pick which one is better! Mickey’s Chicken Pot Pie is large and filling. Daddy’s Pot Roast Sandwich is served with onion rings, green beans, and carrots.

3 – Chicken Parmigiana @ Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano, Table Service Located in Muppet Courtyard

Yummy breaded chicken parmigiana served over spaghetti. The perfect meal after spending some time at Muppet Vision 3D.

4 – Grilled Salmon @ Sci-Fi-Dine-In Theater, Table Service Located in Commissary Lane

While watching the big screen your little one can enjoy Sci-Fi’s Grilled Salmon served over ancient grains with green beans, carrots, and sliced apples.

Epcot

1 – Bangers and Mash @ Rose and Crown Pub, Table Service Located in World Showcase’s United Kingdom Pavilion

A different name, but a superb menu item! Kids will love this English sausage with mashed potatoes and gravy, along with a side of peas.

2 – Empanadas con Queso @ La Cantina de San Angel, Quick Service Located in World Showcase’s Mexico Pavilion

Cheese lovers enjoy! This tortilla pastry is filled with delicious cheese and served with tortilla chips and nacho cheese.

3 – Potstickers & Spring Rolls or Sweet-and-Sour Chicken @ Lotus Blossom Café, Quick Service Located in World Showcase’s China Pavilion

Your kids might surprise you with their love for Chinese food. Have them try the Potstickers and Springs Rolls or the Sweet-and-Sour Chicken served with steamed rice – they may just love it!

4 -Grilled Chicken Wrap or Vegetarian Flatbread @ Electric Umbrella, Quick Service Located in Future World

Electric Umbrella delivers quick, yet tasty, kids’ meals. The Grilled Chicken Wrap and the Vegetarian Flatbread are both served with grapes and carrot sticks and are excellent choices for something light and simple on your little one’s tummy.

Animal Kingdom:

1 – Grilled Barbecued Chicken Skewer or Kids’ Karubi Ribs @ Harambe Market, Quick Service Located in Africa

The Grilled Barbecued Chicken Skewer served at the Kitamu window is our daughter’s favorite! She loves the grilled chicken skewer glazed with barbecue sauce. The Kids’ Karubi Ribs from Chef Mwanga – glazed ribs with barbecue sauce is another tasty choice. Both are served with two selections of either apple wedges, carrot sticks, or broccoli spears.

2 – Mini Mojo Bones @ Rainforest Café, Table Service Located in the Oasis

You’ll do everything in your power not to steal these St. Louis style pork spareribs off of your child’s plate. Plus, kids pick from a list of sides such as apple sauce, corn, and mashed potatoes.

3 – Baked Chicken Drumstick @ Flame Tree Barbecue, Quick Service Located in Discovery Island

Watch your child chow down on this drumstick like a T-Rex would in DinoLand U.S.A. close by! The baked chicken drumstick comes with two selections of either grapes, GoGo squeeze applesauce, or steamed broccoli.

4 – Pork Egg Roll or Teriyaki Chicken Breast @ Yak & Yeti Restaurant, Table Service Located in Asia

Has your child ever tried Asian cuisine? Have them taste the Pork Egg Roll or try the Teriyaki Chicken Breast. Both meals are served with two selections from sides such as white or brown rice, veggies, corn, and applesauce.

Ask your kids what sounds like the most appetizing meal to them? They just might be willing to give up the chicken nuggets for a few of these amazing kids’ meals!

We follow all things Disney and have great experiences with being Annual Passholders, Disney Vacation Club Members, and RunDisney participants. From lodging to dining to Genie+ we have a spreadsheet for every occasion. Usually there isn’t a day that passes without some discussion of the master plan of our next trip to the happiest place on earth. Most people think we’re normal – until they travel to Disney with us.
