10 Fantastic Things to Do When it Rains at Epcot

Rainy days don’t have to mean the end of all of the fun at the theme parks.  There are definitely still a ton of great things to do and experience, especially at Epcot.  Here are ten fantastic things to do when it rains at Epcot:

10 – Ride Spaceship Earth.

Spaceship Earth is the slow-moving attraction that is located inside the Epcot ball, the icon for the entire park.  The attraction takes you inside the large ball to take a journey through various technology and communications through the years.  The attraction is completely indoors, so it is a great option during the rain.  The attraction lasts around ten minutes, and there is also an indoor area with various interactive games as you are exiting the attraction.

9 – Hit the gift shops to do some shopping.

There are tons of great gift shops around Epcot, with the main one being Creations Shop.  When it rains is a great time to do souvenir shopping at the many inside locations where you are safe from the elements.  You can also send your packages back to your resort or to the front of the park (if you are shopping early enough) so that you don’t have to carry them with you through the parks.

8 – Ride Journey to Imagination with Figment.

Journey to Imagination with Figment is a slow-moving attraction located at the Imagination! pavilion.  The attraction features Figment, who was once the unofficial mascot for Epcot.  The attraction takes you on a tour of your senses and then allows you to see things using your imagination.  It is a fun, simple attraction for the entire family to enjoy.  There are also interactive games at the end of the attraction that guests can enjoy while staying dry.

7 – Watch Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival at the Imagination! pavilion.

The theater is located at the Imagination! pavilion and shows three different Disney and Pixar shorts.  The attraction and queue is fully indoors, making it a great place to hang out so you don’t get soaked out in the park.  The shorts are amazing and another reminder of why we love Disney and Pixar Studios.

6 – Enjoy a delicious meal at one of the dining locations.

There are TONS of amazing quick-service and table-service restaurants at Epcot.  There are even various cuisines and types of restaurants to enjoy too.  If you need to wait out the rain, you might as well try to get a delicious meal at one of the locations while you wait.  Disney food is amazing and another one of the great things to look forward to during any Disney World vacation.

5 – Explore The Land pavilion.

The Land pavilion contains a few great attractions.  Even better, the entire pavilion is located indoors.  There is a new film, Amazing Planet, that highlights our awesome planet. There are also two different rides found in the pavilion.  Soarin’ Around the World is one of the most popular attractions, which takes you on an amazing experience flying over various countries.  Living with the Land is a boat ride through the gardens at the pavilion and teaches you about farming and unique ways to get the most out of the land.

4 – Ride Mission: SPACE.

Mission: SPACE is a really, fun attraction where guests get to experience a shuttle takeoff into space.  There are various versions of the attraction with varying levels of thrill in order to make the attraction more family-friendly.  There is also a gift shop and area with interactive games located indoors at the end of the attraction.  It is another great place to hang out in order to beat the rain.

3 – Explore The Seas with Nemo and Friends.

The Seas with Nemo and Friends is another pavilion that is located completely indoors.  There is a family-friendly ride plus an interactive show with Crush.  There are also tons of different viewing areas for the aquarium so guests can look at the different exhibits and see the animals that live there.

2 – Check out the pavilions in the World Showcase.

Eleven countries are represented at themed pavilions around Epcot’s World Showcase.  The pavilions have indoor shows and films, gift shops, dining, and more.  Rainy days make for a great time to explore the pavilions and take in the different cultures.

1 – Enjoy the Indoor Attractions at World Showcase

When traveling around World Showcase, there are three indoor attractions to enjoy that will get you out of the rain. Enjoy the Gran Fiest Tour Starring the Three Caballeros at the Mexican pavilion, Frozen Ever After in the Norway pavilion, and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in the newly expanded France pavilion. All of these experiences are super fun and family-friendly.

Kristin

Hi! I’m Kristin, and I am a wife and mother of 2 young boys (ages 5 and 2). I first fell in love with Disney when my mom took me when I was a child. After that I proceeded to go to WDW for my senior trip with my friends, and I completed a year in the Disney College Program (working in merchandise at Mickey’s of Hollywood at Disney’s Hollywood Studios). I shared my love of Disney with my now husband and sucked him in. We vacationed at Walt Disney World 2-3 times per year. We decided that what maked more sense was just moving to Orlando so that we could live the Disney life and be here for all of our favorite events and seasons every year. That is exactly what we did! Now we are at the parks a couple times a week and go for most events and major holidays. We can’t get enough and get to experience Disney in a whole different way.
