7 Things to Know About Geyser Point Bar & Grill at Wilderness Lodge

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge fanatics are thrilled with the most recent eatery addition at their beloved resort… and for a good reason! So kick back and pull up a chair with us as we check out Geyser Point Bar & Grill and provide you with the low down on what you need to know.

1 – How To Trace It Down

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge addition of Cooper Creek Villas and Cabins provided a facelift to the Wilderness Lodge’s outdoor space, as well as allotting more rooms for Disney Vacation Club members. The great news is whether or not you are a Disney Vacation Club member or even staying at the Wilderness Lodge, you can still drop by to check out Geyser Point Bar & Grill. We actually weren’t staying at Wilderness Lodge and Resort hopped to check out Geyser Point. To trace it down, you’ll want to head through Wilderness Lodge’s unbelievable lobby. Make a left as if you were going down the long hall to the indoor quick service spot called Roaring Fork. Instead of making a left to enter Roaring Fork, make a right turn to step outside. Follow the beautiful path that will lead you past Cooper Creek Falls, Cooper Creek Springs Pool, and finally to Fire Rock Geyser. Once you spot the Geyser, you’ll notice what looks like a large picnic shelter on the right with views of Bay Lake behind it.

2 – The Most Modern Picnic Shelter We’ve Seen!

We stated above “picnic shelter,” but trust us when we say that it is anything but your simple picnic shelter. What looks like a massive stone fireplace entrance greets guests with the Geyser Point Bar & Grill sign above. It is truly an outdoor eatery as there are no walls, so you can see directly into the seating area and bar. Massive wooden beams line the ceiling and stretch down to the floor for support. The stone floor matches that rustic yet modern appearance beautifully. Look up in the shelter and see numerous ceiling fans and even heaters for when it gets cold! The centerpiece of the space is the bar, but the true focus is the views off the back of Bay Lake. We especially loved the seating options inside the shelter. Couches, low tables, wrap-around bar seating, and a few standard tables and chairs make seating options hard to choose from. We will say, though, that it’s somewhat of a take-what-you-can-get kind of setting as it’s obviously a popular place to stop in, and seats go fast. Seating outside of the covered shelter is also available down closer to Bay Lake.

3 – Quick Service or Table Service?

Here’s a little something we didn’t know until we arrived at Geyser Point Bar & Grill. You get to choose whether you would like to have a Quick Service or Table Service experience! Technically, Geyser Point is a Quick Service spot, which means you order your food at a window, wait for your food, and then find a seat. There is a window available with menus on the wall to order from. Many people were getting food this way and either finding a table or taking the food back to their rooms or back to the pool. You can, however, experience something like a Table Service experience like we did. We found a table to sit at, and one of the bartenders came out with menus to take our order. Food runners brought us our food, and the bartender acted like our server. It was similar to what you’d experience if you ordered food while sitting at the bar. The same food is available whether you decide to go to the window for the Quick Service experience or for the Table Service experience.

4 – A “Rustic Fare”

Lunch and dinner are available at Geyser Point Bar and Grill, as the outdoor eatery is typically open from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm. We especially loved that for either of these meals, you can go heavy or light with a great variety on the menu. The lunch and dinner menu has several burger options, salads, and a fruit plate and is partnered with the Lounge menu items like Shrimp on a Wire and Geyser Chicken Wings (delicious!). Even our gluten-allergy family member has no trouble finding a juicy burger to enjoy. The kids’ menus have basic options. A favorite dessert for us had to be the seasonal pie! We were highly pleased with the food, especially for a “Quick Service” location. Fresh ingredients, a great variety of choices, and no complaints from our crew on taste!

5 – Impressive Cocktails

The centerpiece bar here seems to have a glow about it… especially after a long day at the parks! The sun setting over Bay Lake and cocktail in hand makes for a truly relaxing vacation moment. Cocktails at Geyser Point Bar seem endless, with highlights like Rough Rider Sour, Black Cherry Mule, and Cascadia Sangria Cocktail. Plus, the bar is full service, so if you have a favorite drink, they can likely make it! Multiple wines, sangria, and beer selections are available, along with the cocktails. Non-alcoholic specialty beverages available included refreshing favorites like Lava Smoothie or the Strawberry Smoothie.

6 – High Marks For Service

When we first arrived at Geyser Point Bar & Grill, we were kind of just standing there trying to figure out what to do next. What we didn’t know was that there really is no wrong way! A Cast Member was helping (almost like a host) and acted like today was the greatest day of his life as he greeted us with huge smiles and positive vibes! He gave us the run-down of whether we wanted to sit and be served or order from the window and sit. Not only that, but then this Cast Member proceeded to try to piece together space for all six of our party to sit even though this obviously wasn’t part of his job description. He was the Disney service embodiment! Our server/bartender that came to the table was also very knowledgeable and helpful… only to find out later that it was his second day at that location. We would never have known by how well he knew the menu and other questions. Geyser Point Bar & Grill gets high service marks because of these two guys!

7 – A Couple Of Tips

If at all possible, dine at off-peak hours. By this, we mean don’t eat lunch right at noon, but maybe plan for a late/early lunch and dinner combo. This will help with finding a seat! We’d also recommend checking out Fire Rock Geyser and the views of Bay Lake while visiting Geyser Point Bar & Grill. Fire Rock Geyser is fashioned after Yellowstone National Park’s famous Old Faithful Geyser. It erupts every hour on the hour, usually from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm. Bay Lake is stunning and especially beautiful at twilight, which would be an excellent time to grab one of the specialty cocktails to sit and enjoy.

We will definitely be going back to Geyser Point Bar & Grill soon! Have you had a chance to try out this new eatery? We’d love to hear about your experience.
