by Mike and Jamie Sylvester

Christmas is our absolute favorite holiday for many reasons! You simply can’t find a more magical Christmas than what you’ll find at Walt Disney World. Decked out in stunning decorations and jam-packed with unforgettable holiday entertainment, Disney is the place to be over the holidays. We are especially fond of Magic Kingdom during the Christmas season because of the popular special-ticketed event called Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP)! Here are a few things we just know you’ll love about this cherished party!

1 – Several Party Opportunities

Thankfully, Disney is well aware that everyone wants a chance to enjoy the party! They make this easy by offering multiple MVMCP dates. This year, the party takes place on select nights between November 8 – December 22, 2019. Party dates are listed below! Just be sure to book your tickets as soon as possible as some party days do sell out.

  • November: 8, 11, 12, 14, 15, 17, 19, 21, 22, 24
  • December: 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 13, 15, 17, 19, 20, 22

2 – Three “Freebie” Hours!

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party runs from 7:00 pm until midnight. With that being said, guests with a party ticket are allowed to enter the park as early as 4:00 pm with their special ticket! This means you’ll get three hours inside the park before the party even begins. So, while the special-ticket cost may seem pricey (ranges from $95 to $125 depending on the night) you can actually spend a full 8 hours in Magic Kingdom with your special event ticket.

3 – Showing Off Your Holiday Finest

It’s time to put on those green and red Minnie ears, your glowing ornament necklace, and even Christmas pajamas if you’d like! Everyone talks about dressing up for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, but you can still put on your holiday finest to enjoy a night of partying during MVMCP at Magic Kingdom. Plan according, and let your holiday cheer shine through!

4 – Complimentary Cookies and Cocoa

Yes, please! Complimentary Christmas Cookies and Cocoa are included in your ticket so be sure to take full advantage of this yummy perk. Be prepared to enjoy cookies and cocoa at multiple locations throughout Magic Kingdom. Have an allergy? Ask a Cast Member for details on allergy-friendly locations.

5 – Specialty & Party Exclusive Treats

Your taste buds need a break from the complimentary cookies and cocoa? No worries! Specialty treats are available for guests to purchase at select locations. There are always a couple of party exclusive treats you’ll want to try! This year there will be a Sugar Rush Jumbo Red Velvet Cupcake as well as a Vanellope Eclair with rainbow cereal topping. While these are treats you’ll have to pay for, you’ll have no shortage of options to taste your way through MVMCP!

6 – Limited Attendance

We absolutely LOVE that MVMCP is a “limited attendance” event. This means that Disney will sell out of select nights when they’ve reached a certain amount of guests. So, while you’ll have a good flow of people enjoying the party with you, you can expect the lines for attractions to be much more manageable! This is especially important since FastPasses are not available during the party – although, during those “freebie” hours between 4p-7p, you can make FastPasses as long as you haven’t entered another park that day.

7 – It Snows!

Snow may be extremely rare in Orlando, Florida – but with a little magic, it snows on Main Street, U.S.A. during MVMCP! A fluffy mixture of water and soap, makes the snow falling on Main Street really look like snowflakes. Some people come to Disney to escape the snowy holidays, but we are thankful for this type of “snow” which melts as it touches the ground. Be sure to snap a photo of this beautiful experience!

 8 – The Christmas Parade

You may have seen a Christmas parade in your hometown – but MVMCP’s parade is unlike any other! See many of the most popular Disney characters in their holiday finest on intricately detailed floats. Main Street U.S.A. is our favorite place to see Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, as Cinderella Castle glows as a perfect backdrop, snow falls, and the excitement seems to be at its highest. Try for the second showing of the parade, as this is typically the least crowded one!

 9 – Holiday Themed Fireworks

Um, this is Magic Kingdom we’re talking about after all… so of course, any special party includes out of this world fireworks! MVMCP is no exception. The fireworks for this party are specially holiday themed and while they can be seen from surrounding resorts, it’s definitely all the better in the park. Check out the showtime for Holiday Wishes so you don’t miss the nighttime spectacular! You’ll hear the sweet Jiminy Cricket as your host, watch the Castle illuminate in wondrous ways, and the sky dance with fireworks to various Christmas songs.

10 – PLUS More Holiday Entertainment!

While the parade and fireworks are typically the most popular entertainment options during the party, you’ll want to see a few other special entertainment offers exclusive for party goers. Don’t forget to check your party Times Guide to catch all these showtimes.

  • Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration takes place in front of the Castle as a stage show and allows guests to catch a glimpse of Mickey’s closest friends that have come out to celebrate Christmas with him.
  • A Frozen Holiday Wish features the beautiful Queen Elsa along with other Frozen favorites who take the stage in front of Cinderella Castle. Watch as Elsa uses her powers to turn the Castle into a majestic, icy spectacle!
  • Head over to Tomorrowland to experience A Totally Tomorrowland Christmas to sing and dance along with special characters to some Christmas music favorites.
  • In the mood for more dancing? You’ll want to visit Cosmic Rays for Club Tinsel! Characters are ready to dance along with you!

11 – Mickey, Santa, and MORE

Besides seeing characters for stage shows and the parade, you don’t want to miss getting in line early for memorable character meet and greet opportunities. Some of the characters you can normally meet, (such as Mickey) but during the party, they are decked out in their holiday outfits which makes meeting them extra special during MVMCP. In addition to these characters, you’ll see characters that are exclusive to the party like Jack Skellington, Scrooge McDuck, the Seven Dwarfs, Moana – and more. You know it’s a great party when Santa shows up!

12 – Special Dessert Parties

You may have heard of Happily Ever After Dessert Parties held most nights at Magic Kingdom. Well, MVMCP has its own special Fireworks Holiday Dessert Parties– one with viewing from the Tomorrowland Terrace and the other with views from The Plaza Garden. Desserts galore and excellent fireworks viewing! Keep in mind, these parties are an extra fee in addition to your special event ticket.

13 – Party at Tony’s!

Looking for a different kind of dessert part?  Tony’s Most Merriest Town Square Party is back for another year. This party is located in Tony’s Town Square Restaurant is making our mouths water already. This party offers a little more than desserts with some delish hors-d’oeuvres and even alcoholic beverage offerings. The party also includes a reserved viewing of the Christmastime Parade. The cost – $99 plus tax per person, in addition to your special-event ticket.

14 – Christmas Shopping

In the midst of attractions, entertainment, and eating – surely you’ll have time to shop. Take to Main Street U.S.A. to find Christmas merchandise (some exclusive to MVMCP only!) to take home as a souvenir for yourself – or for the friends and family you have waiting to hear all about your trip back home. We are loving the Christmas merchandise this year!

15 – Exclusive PhotoPass Spots

Of course, you’ll want to snap several photos with your personal camera and/or phone while having a blast during MVMCP! Just don’t forget to take advantage of the exclusive PhotoPass spots located throughout Magic Kingdom. Some of these photos will feature characters that may not be visible by the eye but will magically appear in your PhotoPass photos. These definitely make for some memorable photos!
