NEWS: Disney Releases Tons of New Details & Dates on List of New Experiences, Attractions & More

As the saying goes, if you haven’t been to Disney World lately, you haven’t been to Disney World. Over the last 24 hours, Disney has announced new shows, revealed opening dates a bunch of new experiences, and provided details on a laundry list of rides, films, hotels, restaurants and more. It’s the biggest detail dump we’ve ever seen!

1 – Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway

In a special presentation, this past week at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Bob Chapek announced Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will open March 4, 2020, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This will be the first Disney ride-through attraction featuring Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, inviting guests inside a Mickey cartoon for a fun-filled adventure where “Mouse rules apply” and anything can happen!

Cindy recently was able to step inside the Chinese Theater and experience pre-show of this new attraction. No matter what your opinion on the new style of animation of the Mickey Shorts, anyone who loves Mickey Mouse will enjoy this attraction. The theme song is catchy, and the story is fun, and we’re confident the attraction will involve fun thrills for the whole family. We really think kids, in particular, will absolutely love it. We know many mourn The Great Movie Ride, but this attraction is all about placing you inside the world of a Mickey Short. Children can connect easily with Mickey and friends. They probably had no idea who Humphry Bogart is or the other films that were featured in the Great Movie Ride. This attraction is a worthy replacement, and we are overdue for a Mickey-themed attraction. We really hope people will give it a chance.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is part of a broader transformation happening at Walt Disney World, as the Most Magical Place on Earth experiences its most significant period of growth in the past two decades. As part of a presentation to hundreds of media outlets from around the globe, Disney released new information about several more projects in development across the resort.

2 – Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will begin “transporting” guests to a galaxy far, far away in 2021. This two-night vacation experience will surround guests 24/7 in Star Wars storytelling, including a visit to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. New artist renderings show the guest arrival experience at the Galactic Starcruiser Terminal, as well as the out-of-this-world transport that will take guests from Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

“Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along” in the France pavilion is directed and produced by Don Hahn, producer of the animated and live-action “Beauty and the Beast” films, and invites guests to participate in a twist on a tale as old as time. It also features narration from Angela Lansbury, who played Mrs. Potts in the original film. 7 – Space 220 Restaurant

Space 220 is a new table-service restaurant debuting this winter at Epcot – next to Mission: SPACE – that will give the feel of dining 220 miles above the Earth’s surface, complete with celestial views. Guests will step inside the restaurant’s space elevator to prepare for liftoff; they’ll feel as if they’re traveling straight up into space to dock next to the Centauri Space Station suspended just beyond the orbit of Mission: SPACE. Upon arrival, guests will be guided to their seats past the grow zone, a spinning wall of produce that mimics Earth’s gravity and represents some of the fresh ingredients used by the restaurant’s culinary team.

Chad & Cindy Nykamp

After years of multiple Walt Disney World vacations, Cindy and Chad's dream of living in Orlando came true in 2010. After friends and family made them their go-to-people for Walt Disney World advice, Cindy and Chad launched DisneyLists.com in August 2015 to share their knowledge and love of Disney. Chad and Cindy have been Disney World Annual Passholders for years, DVC members, together have raced more than 70 runDisney races, and particularly love cruising on the Disney Cruise Line. Chad and Cindy also regularly represent DisneyLists.com at Walt Disney World media events. While attending these events, they get an insiders view of all the new things that have come to Walt Disney World. These experiences have helped them gain knowledge and expertise they happily pass on to their followers. They still can't believe how lucky they are to have such an amazing opportunity and will continue to share Disney with anyone who will listen!
