9 Things You Shouldn’t Miss at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Disney’s Hollywood has seen a lot of growth over the past couple of years, and it doesn’t look like the excitement is stopping any time soon. Chances are when you think Hollywood Studios you think, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Toy Story Land, Tower of Terror, and Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster… and these are just a few of the park’s must-dos! With all the excitement above, there are a few things you might have missed at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

1 – Walt Disney Presents

Let’s start with the man that made it all happen! Visit Walt Disney Present’s located just outside of Toy Story Land for a self-guided tour through an exhibit featuring Walt himself! Watch as 100 years of Disney unfolds from one display case to the next. Walt Disney Presents ends with a fifteen-minute documentary about Walt. We know it’s hard to slow down when there is so much to tackle at Hollywood Studios, but this attraction really puts the whole Disney experience into perspective.

2 – Breakfast with Disney Junior Characters

The only character dining restaurant in Disney’s Hollywood Studios is Hollywood & Vine, located near Echo Lake. Hollywood & Vine is well known for Minnie’s Seasonal Dine experience, which varies in theme at different times of the year. Minnie and her best pals dress to match the season while guests snap photos and chow down on a vast buffet of American food. This experience is only available for lunch and dinner. What is often forgotten is breakfast at Hollywood & Vine! Instead of Minnie’s Seasonal Dine, breakfast features Disney Junior Play ‘n Dine. This is a perfect opportunity for Disney Junior fans to see the most popular Disney Junior characters while they fill up on the most important meal of the day. Slow down the morning rush with a hearty breakfast along with sweet Disney Junior characters!

3 – #DisneyWalls

If you’re on Instagram or Twitter, take note of this one! There are several popular #DisneyWalls located throughout Disney’s Hollywood Studios that are social-media-worthy. For those that may not be familiar with #DisneyWalls, these are colorful, sometimes themed, walls Disney has placed around the property that make for great photo ops and/or selfies spots. Post your photos to your social media with the #DisneyWalls. It’s entertaining to see the many Disney guests that take advantage of these walls. Some of our favorite walls are in Toy Story Land. Fun, vibrant colors and designs await at Hollywood Studios!

4 – Wonderful World of Animation

Journey through 100 years of Disney and Pixar animation! Wonderful World of Animation is a 12-minute nightly projection show displayed on the Chinese Theatre. Many guests opt for Fantasmic!, but Wonderful World of Animation is worth seeing at least once!

5 – Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy

“Ka-Chow!” Lightning McQueen rolled into Disney’s Hollywood Studios not too long ago. This red race car and his friends are ready to teach parkgoers what it takes to become a champion racer with an impressive, high-tech show. The location of this attraction tends to make it an “out of sight out of mind” show as it’s nestled behind the popular Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster at the end of Sunset Blvd. While Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy usually appeals mostly to younger children, the high-tech animatronics and screens are excellent for all ages to see!

6 – Muppet Vision 3D

And now for a classic! Muppet Vision 3D is one of Hollywood Studios’ most nostalgic attractions that remains timeless. Take a seat in the comfortable theater, put on your 3D glasses, and get ready for a film featuring the beloved Muppets! Muppet Vision 3D is located right next to the main entrance of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, which means it tends to be forgotten as guests rush by for all things Star Wars. We’d recommend enjoying this one later in the day when you need to rest your feet and enjoy a little air-conditioning.

7 – Play Disney Parks App

While we typically advocate putting your phone away as much as possible on vacation, we do feel like Disney has found a solution for waiting in line or having a tech-enthralled teen or tween in tow.  Download the Play Disney Parks App and get ready to check out the fun games and interactions available throughout the park. Disney’s Hollywood Studios has some of the best entertainment on the app, including Toy Story Land and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is where the app is especially impressive, so get ready to explore this land with a digital factor.

8 – Star Wars Launch Bay Theater

Most of the Star Wars entertainment will have guests bolting to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. The Star Wars Launch Bay is still a must-do stop for Star Wars characters and memorabilia. Eager to hug Chewbacca, we tend to hurry past the Star Wars Launch Bay Theater, making this easy to miss. Of course, this 10-minute film is all about Star Wars and will take you behind the scenes with an impressive documentary. Avid Star Wars fans will want to stop here!

9 – Characters at Star Wars Launch Bay

You may be surprised to learn that there are no character greetings in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. While you’ll see Kylo Ren, Rey, the Stormtroopers, and Chewie, you won’t be able to greet them. That’s why we love greeting the characters at Star Wars Launch Bay. Currently, you can meet with Chewbacca, BB-8, and Darth Vader.

Take a break from the “regulars” and enjoy these experiences that are often missed at Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

Matt & Kim

We have had a long time love affair with Disney. We love the magic and the memories we've made at Walt Disney World! We follow all things Disney and have great experiences with being Annual Passholders, Disney Vacation Club Members, and RunDisney participants. From lodging to dining to Genie+ we have a spreadsheet for every occasion. Usually there isn’t a day that passes without some discussion of the master plan of our next trip to the happiest place on earth. Most people think we’re normal – until they travel to Disney with us.
