5 Unique Experiences to Try at Disney World

One of the things that makes Disney World the fantastic place that we all love to visit is their ability to create massive, amazing spectacles. From larger than life nighttime spectaculars to incredibly detailed headlining attractions, day after day massive crowds flock to the Happiest Place on Earth. However, beyond the Disney World that everyone knows and gathers to are some fantastic, unique experiences that most people don’t know exist. If you want to add something special to your next trip and create lifetime memories, try one of these five options.

1 – Get Your Haircut on Main Street U.S.A.

A hidden gem on Main Street U.S.A is the Harmony Barber Shop. The friendly and experienced barbers give child and adult haircuts that will have you looking fabulous in a fantastic place. We highly recommend the My First Haircut package for your young child. I was able to watch my nephew get his first haircut, and it was an excellent experience. He did great, and his barber was fantastic! Your child will receive a “My First Haircut” Mickey Ears that are a terrific bonus included in the package. Three years later, he returned to get another haircut and was lucky to get the same barber. He absolutely loved getting his hair cut right on Main Street U.S.A. and will repeat the tradition on the next trip! Reservations are highly recommended, though walk-ins are welcome. Call 407-WDW-PLAY to make your reservation.

2 – Have a Lovely Afternoon Tea

When my sister turned 40, we wanted to have a unique experience that would be just right for three ladies looking for a unique afternoon outing. We had a lovely time experiencing a traditional afternoon tea, served in the grand British style, at the Garden View Tea Room at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. We dressed up and enjoyed a collection of teas, sandwiches, scones, and pastries. It was a beautiful afternoon! Afternoon tea is served from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Reservations are highly recommended and can be made online or by calling 407-WDW-DINE.

3 – Enjoy a Horseback Ride

It’s no secret that we absolutely love Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground and Resort. Some of our favorite activities at Fort Wilderness are getting a chance to see and interact with horses! If you are a horse lover, you won’t want to miss an afternoon at Fort Wilderness where you can explore the Tri-Circle D Ranch that features the horses of Main Street U.S.A. Pony rides and horseback trail rides are available for those wishing to ride. Wagon and carriage rides are also a great option for those wishing to relax. Read all the details in our 6 Ways to “Horse” Around at Disney World.

4 – Swim with the Fishes

There are two wonderful experiences that you can enjoy that will bring your face to face with some amazing sea creatures. First, if you are SCUBA-certified you can jump in and swim with the fish at The Seas with Nemo and Friends Pavilion with Epcot’s Dive Quest program. During this three-hour experience you’ll swim, for approximately 40 minutes, with over 6,000 sea creatures in Disney’s 5.7-million-gallon saltwater aquarium. If you are not SCUBA-certified, don’t fret, you can enjoy the Epcot Seas Aqua tour where you will use a snorkel to swim around. You’ll have an amazing view of over 65 species of marine life below you. The pavilions enormous windows make it possible for family members to view your dive. Also, at The Seas with Nemo and Friends Pavilion is Disney’s Dolphins in Depth experience. During this three-hour experience you’ll get an amazing look backstage at the life of Dolphins at Epcot. You’ll also get to interact with dolphins for approximately 30 minutes!
