7 Reasons We Love Adventureland in Disney’s Magic Kingdom

There are several lands and areas within the Magic Kingdom, but Adventureland definitely holds something special.  The theme, the perfect attractions, the experiences… it all helps make up this fun land that leaves you wanting to explore the jungle or become a pirate.  I really feel like a kid again in this area and love to spend time here.  If you don’t have enough reasons of your own, here are seven reasons we love Adventureland in the Magic Kingdom:

7 – The Jungle Cruise

This is a fantastic riverboat ride where the Jungle Skippers take you on tour along the Nile River and introduce you to the various animals and inhabitants of the area. These skippers have a hilarious sense of humor, so you will experience great slapstick jokes that are a lot of fun for the whole family. This isn’t your typical river tour and one that is so much fun that you can’t help but ride it over and over again.

6 – The Dole Whip

Ah, the famed Dole Whip. This is really a Disney cult-classic and a rite of passage for all Disney fans. You have likely either tried the Dole Whip for yourself, or you have heard other Disney fans talking about it. You can get this fantastic, popular treat at Aloha Isle in the heart of Adventureland. The treat is a frozen pineapple treat that can be experienced as soft serve or can be experienced as a float in a cup with pineapple juice. The treat is vegan, so it is friendly to many different dietary needs.

5 – The Pirates of the Caribbean

This is one of the most popular attractions in the Magic Kingdom. We can’t get enough of those pirates, which opened the door for Disney to create many different movies based on the attraction, and then continue to update the attraction with new characters based on the movies. It is a dark boat ride through various scenes the depict battle scenes, cities under siege by pirates, and the hunt for Captain Jack Sparrow. It is a beloved attraction and one that fans can’t get enough of.

4 – The Meet and Greets

Adventureland is home to some pretty fantastic meet and greets. You can also meet fun characters like Aladdin and Jasmine. Other limited characters appear every now and then, depending on the season.

3 – The Skipper Canteen

This is the newest restaurant to appear in the Magic Kingdom. The Skipper Canteen is themed after the Jungle Cruise attraction. The story is that the skippers need to make extra money, so they opened the canteen to earn more money. The cast members are in character. You can get a delicious steak here! Same-day reservations can be made for the restaurant via Disney’s dining reservations to streamline your entrance into the restaurant. You don’t want to miss this one, and it has been a great addition to dining options for the entire park, but specifically for Adventureland.

2 – The amazing atmosphere.

The beating drums, the beautifully lush, green surroundings, the perfectly themed attractions….. it all makes up such a fantastic atmosphere. Adventureland is one of my favorite areas in all of the Magic Kingdom, and the theming is spot on. I feel so much energy in this area and feel more secluded and shaded in this area than in other areas in the park with all the greenery and trees. It is a fun land that I enjoy every single attraction and feature.

1 – The Enchanted Tiki Room.

We can’t forget about the Tiki Room. This attraction has seen other variations but was ultimately restored to the original version of the attraction that was in place when it opened. In this attraction, you go into a hut where the birds sing and entertain you. The experience is completely immersive as no matter how hard the sun is shining outside, the rainstorms and dark theater inside immerse you into the season and experience of the attraction. It is a great place to cool off for a bit and sing along to fan-favorite songs.

Kristin

Hi! I’m Kristin, and I am a wife and mother of 2 young boys (ages 5 and 2). I first fell in love with Disney when my mom took me when I was a child. After that I proceeded to go to WDW for my senior trip with my friends, and I completed a year in the Disney College Program (working in merchandise at Mickey’s of Hollywood at Disney’s Hollywood Studios). I shared my love of Disney with my now husband and sucked him in. We vacationed at Walt Disney World 2-3 times per year. We decided that what maked more sense was just moving to Orlando so that we could live the Disney life and be here for all of our favorite events and seasons every year. That is exactly what we did! Now we are at the parks a couple times a week and go for most events and major holidays. We can’t get enough and get to experience Disney in a whole different way.
