NEWS: Disney Releases New Photos of Star Wars Hotel Coming to Disney World

While we don’t have a confirmed opening date for the upcoming Star Wars hotel coming to Walt Disney World, we have been given a look at the cabins! Check out the new photos below.

Disney Cast Member Thomas Smith shares more below:

Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, recently took the virtual stage at the IAAPA Expo: Virtual Education Conference, where he shared a behind-the-scenes look at the lessons we’ve learned over the past year, and the ways we’re moving forward into 2021 and beyond.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

In a galaxy far, far away, progress continues at Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, where guests will live aboard a starship for a 2-day, 2-night experience. Unlike any typical cruise, though, you can become the heroes of your own Star Wars story in a new type of immersive experience that only Disney could create.

Guests will cruise the galaxy in style aboard the Halcyon, known for its impeccable service and exotic destinations. Onboard, you’ll stay in well-appointed cabins, experience onboard dining, make a planet-side excursion to Black Spire Outpost on Batuu and much more.

by Cindy E. Nykamp

A Star Wars vacation experience unlike anything Disney has ever created before will fully immerse guests in a galaxy far, far away when Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser debuts at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. We can’t wait to experience Star Wars in an entirely whole new way. Keep reading for everything we know so far about Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser.

1 – Cruising into the Galaxy in 2021

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will offer a two-night, two-day itinerary where all guests arrive and depart at the same time, similar to Disney Cruise Line. It’s an all-inclusive experience that includes meals and entertainment. Unlike any typical cruise, though, guests can become the heroes of their own Star Wars stories in a new type of immersive experience that only Disney could create. Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will begin “transporting” guests to a galaxy far, far away in 2021. Disney has announced that reservations will open in the later part of 2020.

2 – Board the Halcyon

Guests will cruise the galaxy in style aboard the Halcyon, a starcruiser known throughout the galaxy for its impeccable service and exotic destinations. Onboard, they will stay in well-appointed cabins, experience onboard dining, make a planet-side excursion to Black Spire Outpost on Batuu, and much more.

The adventure begins when guests arrive at the Galactic Starcruiser Terminal at Walt Disney World and check-in for their two-night experience. Guests will be invited to enter a Launch Pod for transport into space. Through windows above, they’ll see themselves leave the real world behind as they jump to hyperspace and draw closer and closer to the Halcyon. When the Launch Pod docks with the Halcyon and the airlock opens, guests will step into the ship’s central deck Atrium to begin their journey through a galaxy far, far away.

3 – Experience Your Own Star Wars Story in a Totally Immersive New Way

Ann Morrow Johnson, Executive Producer and Creative Director at Walt Disney Imagineering shared some exciting details with us about the experiences that guests will have to enjoy during their space voyage. She explained that all of the details around guests will bring to life their own Star Wars stories. From the alien crew to the fact that every window in the Halcyon – including those in each cabin – has a view of the galaxy beyond, with ever-changing vistas as the ship progresses from place to place.

Throughout the journey, guests will be invited to delve deeper into their personal adventures by participating in onboard activities, interacting with characters, crew, other passengers they meet and while becoming part of the action and the broader Star Wars saga.

4 – Enjoy Ship Entertainment & Activities

A visit aboard the Halcyon becomes a multi-day story that interweaves with members of the crew, other passengers, familiar Star Wars characters, like Chewbacca and Rey.

The all-immersive experience also features entertaining activities. First, guests (both adults and children) will be able to wield a lightsaber while facing off against a training remote, where guests may discover their own connection with the Force. This exercise is what we see Luke practicing in Star Wars: A New Hope.

Another activity calls for visiting the star cruiser’s Bridge to learn about ship systems and how to operate them, including navigation and defense. Morrow Johnson elaborated that as the story unfolds, the defense systems guests learn at the Bridge just may come in handy.

Guests will also be able to explore the Halcyon, and perhaps discover hidden spaces deep in the mechanics of the ship – perfect for uncovering secrets … or holding secret meetings. Interestingly, choices guests make during their adventure will help determine how their Star Wars stories progress.

5 – Excursion to Black Spire Outpost

Guests will also enjoy an off-ship excursion to the planet of Batuu, where guests will visit the Black Spire Outpost (Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios). Guests will take a transport from the Starcruiser to Batuu. The choices and activities guests participate in on Batuu have consequences later on the ship. So, what guests do on Batuuu matters as everything is connected.

6 – What We Don’t Know

There is a lot of speculation on the cost of a voyage on the Star Wars: Starcruiser with rumors being tossed around. At this point, no official price indicators have been given. There are also some questions on how this two-night experience will fit into a more extended Disney World vacation. Ann Morrow Johnson compared the experience to a Disney Cruise Line vacation. You’ll likely see similar “space and land” packages available for guests if they want to combine it with a stay at another Walt Disney World Resort. Finally, we’re really interested to see how the Starcruiser will look on the outside since every window will be covered. There is so much to learn about this experience, but we can’t wait to find out more.
