Our Favorite Things: 10 Things We Love Doing at Epcot

There are so many wonderful and exciting things to do and see at Epcot in both the World Showcase and Future World. In fact, it wouldn’t be difficult to list 100 things we love to do at a park as expansive and incredible as Epcot, but we have narrowed down our long list of things we love doing at Epcot to just 10.

10 – Enjoying One of the Festivals

Epcot now offers four different festivals throughout the year. In the beginning of the year, you can enjoy the Epcot Festival of the Arts. The event features visiting artists, an array of foodie delights, and opportunities for guests to embrace their own inner artists. In the spring, the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival blooms! Millions of spring blossoms will transform Epcot into a wonderful world of brilliant color during this 90-day celebration of flowers, topiaries, themed food, libations, and music. In the fall, the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival is a culinary mashup of global cultures, and gourmet innovation will bring irresistible bites, sips, entertainment, and family fun. Finally, the Epcot International Festival of the Holidays takes place during the holiday season and celebrates holiday traditions from around the world through storytelling and music presented throughout World Showcase. The beloved Candlelight Processional is performed during the festival with a 50-piece orchestra, mass choir, and 12 different celebrity narrators.

9 – Taking the Friendship Boats

The Friendship Boats won’t necessarily save you time, but relaxing and enjoying being at Epcot is an essential part of visiting this fantastic park. When you don’t have a FastPss+ or a dining reservation to get to, take a Friendship Boat across the World Showcase Lagoon. There are two routes that both originate at the World Showcase Plaza. The boats also give guests a different view of the World Showcase as you cross the water.

8 – Shopping at Mitsukoshi Department Store

Everyone has their favorite pavilion, and their favorite things to do at each pavilion, but one of our favorite places to stop and spend some time shopping is at the Mitsukoshi Department Store in the Japan pavilion. There are so many amazing, fun, and beautiful items in this store. One of the big draws here is the Pick a Pearl experience. Guests can buy a pearl, but they get to pick the oyster for the cast member to break open to reveal your pearl inside. It’s a fun, interactive little show as well!

7 – Behind the Seeds Tour

Editor’s Note: During the phased reopening of Walt Disney World, the Behind the Seeds tour is not operating.

We love the attraction Living with the Land, it’s a relaxing and informative attraction, and so is the Behind the Seeds Tour, which takes guests behind the scenes of the attraction, to explore the greenhouses and the fish farms. This one-hour walking tour is affordable, and you can make a reservation for a tour that same day at the desk located next to Soarin’. Guests will see gigantic fruits and vegetables, hydroponic growing techniques, and you may even see a few Hidden Mickeys along the way too!

6 – Breakfast at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall

Editor’s Note: During the phased reopening of Walt Disney World, Akershus restaurant is not operating.

It’s a great feeling to be in the park before it officially opens, and with a breakfast reservation, you can get into the park up to an hour before the park opens. We love to make a breakfast reservation at Akershus in the Norway pavilion. Breakfast at Epcot in a Norwegian castle with Disney princesses is our favorite way to start the day at this park.

5 – Visiting The Seas

There are so many fantastic attractions to visit at The Seas, one of the best being Nemo & Friends, but the ride isn’t the only reason to visit The Seas. We love taking photos with Bruce and his shark friends, and spending time watching the underwater life in the aquariums, especially the sea turtles! The Seas is our destination of choice mid-day when the sun is the hottest, and we need a break from the heat!

4 – Snacking Around the World

Sometimes it’s a good idea to skip a meal and just snack around the World Showcase. Each pavilion has several delicious snacks and desserts. Go on a stroll around the World and as you stop at each pavilion, pick one snack and enjoy it as you peruse your way through the pavilion or stop and enjoy your surroundings, and of course, your snack! Some of our favorites include the baklava from Morocco, School Bread in Norway, gelato in Italy, and caramel corn in Germany. It’s a great way to experience the culture and try new things.

3 – Watching the Entertainment

Editor’s Note: During the phased reopening of Walt Disney World, many World Showcase entertainment groups are not performing.

The pavilions at Epcot boast some truly unique entertainment, and a lot of it happens out in the open so you can watch as you wander through the World Showcase. Voices of Liberty is a must-do at the American pavilion. Guests can gather in the lobby of The American Adventure to hear the a cappella group sing patriotic songs perfectly amplified. There’s more music to be heard in other pavilions, like the Taiko drums in Japan or the British Revolution in the UK. For some different entertainment options, head to China to see the Jeweled Dragon Acrobats, or the French acrobats Serveur Amusant. All the performers follow a schedule, which can be viewed online, in the My Disney Experience app, or found in a times guide available at the park.

2 – Watching Epcot Forever

Editor’s Note: During the phased reopening of Walt Disney World, Epcot Forever is temporarily suspended.

The nighttime spectacular Epcot Forever has to be in our top 3 favorite things to do at Epcot. Watching fireworks paint the night sky over the World Showcase Lagoon with the epic and beautiful soundtrack playing, is the perfect end to a day at Epcot.

1 – Spaceship Earth

A trip to Epcot wouldn’t be the same, or feel complete, without riding Spaceship Earth. One of our very favorite things is to travel through time inside the iconic image that is the geosphere, Spaceship Earth at Epcot. It’s a great reminder of everything that Epcot celebrates; innovation, discovery, different cultures, and an optimistic look to the future.
