NEWS: New Menu Items Coming to Contempo Cafe at Disney’s Contemporary Resort

When most people think of dining at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, they think of Chef Mickey’s. However, the resort’s quick-service restaurant, Contempo Cafe, is a great option for guests looking for a delicious meal. Now there are more reasons to head on over to Contempo Cafe with new menu items coming soon. Learn more below.

If you aren’t already hungry, you’re about to be. Over at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, the culinary teams have been hard at work creating some tasty treats and eats for Contempo Café that will blow you away. Starting tomorrow, August 16, these new satisfying selections will be available for your tasting pleasure. From sweet to savory and everything in between, you’ll want to try these dishes. And they’re all on mobile order too!

Let’s get to them – what do you say?

Do you want a yummy breakfast option? You’re in luck because Contempo Café will have two new items for savory and sweet fans alike. Start your day on the right foot, or taste rather, with the new Breakfast Flatbread or go for a sweeter beginning with the Minnie Cinnamon Roll dipped in white chocolate.

Before we get to the desserts, which are sure to make your mouth water, there are some new and enhanced savory items joining this tasty lineup. As lunch and dinner roll around, try the returning, updated classic Four-Cheese Grilled Cheese & Tomato-Basil Soup or opt for the new Spicy Chicken Sandwich – a crispy chicken breast topped with pepper jack, chipotle rémoulade, arugula, seasoned tomato, and dill pickle chips served on a brioche bun. In addition to these handhelds, starting at 4 p.m. each day, you’ll be able to sink your teeth into the can’t-miss Signature Rice Bowls. The bowls are a perfect combination of cilantro-lime rice, black beans, street corn, avocado, pico de gallo, carrot, and pickled red onion. Then they are topped with a protein of your choice – grilled shrimp, braised beef, grilled chicken, or plant-based crispy tofu.

Now the moment the sweet tooth foodies have been waiting for – dessert! The pastry chefs have brought their A-game with six – yes, six – new decadent bites. The Monorail S’more Brownie is a nod to the monorail that wizzes by overhead while you dine at Contempo Café. It’s a fudgy brownie with a graham cracker crust topped with marshmallow crème and chocolate décor. Yes, yes, and yes.

For a fruity flavor, the 5-Legged Goat Fruit Tart draws inspiration from the iconic Mary Blair Grand Canyon Concourse mural’s 5-Legged Goat. This bite features a vanilla tart shell filled with raspberry-lemon curd topped with fresh fruit and lemon whipped cream. How delicious!

The chocolate keeps on coming with the Jack-Jack Cookie Num Nums Cupcake. This chocolate cupcake topped with chocolate chip cookie dough mousse is inspired by The Incredibles and their presence throughout Disney’s Contemporary Resort. The new Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar is also sure to satisfy chocolate fans and is plant-based as well as gluten and wheat friendly!

If cookies are your treat of choice, the new Signature Deluxe Cookies are the move. These three cookies include a Chocolate Chunk Cookie with peanut butter buttercream, a Churro Cookie with cinnamon buttercream, and Kitchen Sink Cookie, a chocolate chip cookie with salted caramel, Mickey chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, butterscotch, and walnuts. While these three will all be available year-round, there will also be a seasonal sugar cookie that will rotate throughout the year too.

Last but certainly not least, get the perfect taste of summer in cookie form with the Strawberry Lemonade Sugar Cookie. This delight, available August 16 through September 30, is topped with strawberry buttercream and patriotic sprinkles.

The Contemporary Resort is the ultra-modern resort on Disney property. It’s one of two original resorts at Disney, and yet still maintains its sleek and modern atmosphere. You don’t have to be in the parks to find amazing cupcakes, just head over to the Contempo Café right here in the resort. The Contempo Café is a quick-service restaurant, but it’s definitely one of the best. You can even place your order on a touch screen, making it a modern dining experience!

9 – Room with a View

The Contemporary has beautiful rooms with a view of Magic Kingdom. These rooms tend to be at a higher price point, but the views really are spectacular. You can see the castle, fireworks, Space Mountain, and the Monorail as it sails by. This view makes it feel as if the magic of the parks is with you always. Relaxing on your balcony gazing out at Magic Kingdom is a great reason to stay at the Contemporary on your next visit.

8 – Chef Mickey’s

Chef Mickey’s is a great reason for families to stay here. This restaurant offers a buffet at breakfast, brunch, and dinner. And of course, Mickey and his friends make an appearance for a meet and greet with guests. There are also images of Mickey, and hidden Mickey’s big and small, everywhere, not to mention Mickey-shaped food.

7 – Electrical Water Pageant

The Contemporary is one of the few resorts that has a wonderful view of the classic Electrical Water Pageant, which floats across Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon at the end of the night. When staying at the Contemporary, you have the advantage of being able to enjoy this magical parade without even having to leave your resort.

6 – The Pools

The pool areas have a lot to offer guests. There are cabanas for rental that are equipped with a mini-fridge, TV, lounge chairs, and they can be rented for the day, half a day, or the evening. There is a pool area and playground for kids, a pool for all ages where they encourage guests to remain on the quieter side, and there are also waterslides and hot tubs. Whether you’re looking for fun or relaxation, the pools at the Contemporary have what you want.

5 – Lounges

There is no shortage of lounges available at the Contemporary. There is a lounge at The California Grill, where you can grab a cocktail as you wait for your reservation to roll around, or you can simply just sit back, relax, and enjoy the atmosphere. Cove Bar is a private poolside bar/lounge for guests of Bay Lake Tower and Disney Vacation Club members only. Their menu features lighter meal options that are great for sharing while you sip on your specialty cocktail. They even offer Mickey Pretzels! The Outer Rim lounge offers a spectacular view of Bay Lake, and the beverage menu is quite extensive! 

4 – Boating

Because the Contemporary is so close to the water, there are a number of watersport recreational activities available, which make for a great afternoon!

3 – The Monorail 

The Contemporary is the only resort to have the Monorail pass right through the building. It’s a novelty that never wears off, to be wandering through the resort, or having a meal at Chef Mickey’s and see the Monorail zoom by overhead. This also makes it extremely convenient to hop aboard the Monorail and head to the parks or the nearby resorts. It’s the perfect way to travel when staying at this modern resort.

2 – The California Grill

The California Grill is the signature-dining restaurant at the Contemporary. It features delectable Californian cuisine and one of the best views on property of the Seven Seas Lagoon and Magic Kingdom. The California Grill is only open for dinner. Being located on the 15th floor and so close to Magic Kingdom makes it the perfect spot to have a late dinner and watch fireworks at Magic Kingdom.

1 – Proximity to Magic Kingdom

The only way to stay closer to the magic would be to secure that elusive night in the Cinderella Suite, but the Contemporary is the next best thing. It’s so close you can actually walk to the park in minutes, and often that might be the fastest option. It’s definitely the best way to head back to the resort at the end of the night instead of fighting the crowds to board the monorail.
