Flying Fish Restaurant on Disney’s BoardWalk – Our Review and What You Need to Know

Disney’s BoardWalk is one of our favorite destinations at Walt Disney World, and one of those reasons is the Flying Fish restaurant! We recently enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the restaurant. Learn more about the restaurant below.

1 – Getting to Flying Fish Restaurant

The restaurant is located right on Disney’s BoardWalk. The area is full of life and excitement on a real Boardwalk overlooking the water like you would find in New England areas. If you are staying at a resort different from Boardwalk Inn, you can get to the location in several different ways. You can take an available transportation mode to Disney’s Hollywood Studios or Epcot, such as the Disney Skyliner or a bus, and then take a boat from those parks to Disney’s Boardwalk. You could also drive or take a taxi or Uber. Self-parking or valet parking is available.

2 – Open for Dinner

The restaurant is amazing and has a delicious menu of exciting culinary items. Sadly, it is only open for dinner service, with guests being seated from 5 PM to 9:30 PM. There are no breakfast or lunch services at this particular location.

3 – A Signature Dining Experience

Since this restaurant is considered a signature dining experience, there is a dress code that you have to adhere to when you dine at the location. According to Disney’s website, men should wear khakis, slacks, jeans, or dress shorts with a collared shirt. Women are expected to wear capri pants, skirts, dresses, jeans, or dress shorts.  The restaurant also does not permit tank tops, swimsuits, swimsuit cover-ups, hats for gentlemen, cut-offs, torn clothing, and offensive t-shirts. Also, as a signature dining experience, the restaurant will use two dining credits instead of the typical one for dinner.

4 – Beautifully Themed Restaurant

Inside the restaurant, you’ll find a beautiful dining room perfect for a seafood restaurant. The deep blues are reminiscent of the ocean. Be sure to look up at the chandeliers! Gorgeous glass bubbles hang down from the ceiling.

5 – Amazing Staff Makes a Huge Impression

During our dinner, we had the chance to speak with Chef de Cuisine Matthew Eiler, who runs the day-to-day operations for the Flying Fish complex. His passion for the restaurant and dedication to improving the quality and taste of the food for guests was evident. He’s working hard with a dedicated team to provide the very best experience for guests. We also spoke with Sommelier Micheal Scheifer, whose knowledge was evident when offering paired wines. His expertise really added to the overall experience of the meal. Finally, we talked with Pastry Chef Alex Vacher, who oversees the production and development of all desserts served at Disney’s BoardWalk. His passion was also evident, and his fantastic desserts were the perfect ending to our meal.

6 – Plentiful Land and Seafood Options

The menu is absolutely amazing! During our dinner, we enjoyed a sampling of the appetizers. We tried the Slow-roasted Pork Belly, Hawaiian Hamachi, and the Oak-grilled Romaine. All of them were delicious; however, the pork belly stood out. It may have been the best pork belly we have ever tasted (and we’ve tried a lot)!

For the main dishes, you’ll find a wide variety of seafood options, including several types of fish. There are also two steak options and a plant-based Tofu dish. Beef and seafood entrees prepared with fresh flavors and ingredients will have your mouth watering. Chad had the Chilean Sea Bass and was so impressed. He loved it. Since I’m not a huge seafood fan, I enjoyed the Char-crusted New York Strip, which was delicious! Our friend had the chicken, and he loved it. You won’t be disappointed with anything offered for the main entrees.

7 – Save Room For Dessert

The desserts are so unique and exciting. These are definitely not your run-of-the-mill desserts, so you will need to be sure to save room so that you can sample them. I always advise guests to each get a different dessert so that they can share and sample them. Current offerings include: Vanilla Bean Cheesecake, Key Lime Cake, Florida Sunset, and Chocolate-Hazelnut Bar. Our favorite was the Vanilla Bean Cheesecake, but you definitely have to give them a try!

8 – A Great Option for Dinner

With so many wonderful signature dining experiences available at Walt Disney World, how can you choose which one to visit? If you’re looking for a dining experience with a knowledgeable and dedicated staff that offers delicious options, a well-themed dining room, and a great location, you can’t go wrong with Flying Fish. We had a fantastic time and can not wait to return!

Chad & Cindy Nykamp

After years of multiple Walt Disney World vacations, Cindy and Chad's dream of living in Orlando came true in 2010. After friends and family made them their go-to-people for Walt Disney World advice, Cindy and Chad launched DisneyLists.com in August 2015 to share their knowledge and love of Disney. Chad and Cindy have been Disney World Annual Passholders for years, DVC members, together have raced more than 70 runDisney races, and particularly love cruising on the Disney Cruise Line. Chad and Cindy also regularly represent DisneyLists.com at Walt Disney World media events. While attending these events, they get an insiders view of all the new things that have come to Walt Disney World. These experiences have helped them gain knowledge and expertise they happily pass on to their followers. They still can't believe how lucky they are to have such an amazing opportunity and will continue to share Disney with anyone who will listen!
