NEWS: Disney Treasure First Look-Welcome to Skipper Society

The Disney Treasure has been christened and is ready to welcome guests this December! Disney has shared a first look at upcoming venues guests can enjoy while aboard. Learn more below.

Here are all the details from Disney Cast Member Khia Diaz:

Welcome aboard the world-famous Disney Parks Blog! My name is Khia and I’ll be your guide, captain and cruise director for the next few hundred words as we set our sights on the newly minted eighth wonder of the world, Skipper Society aboard the Disney Treasure! Oooooo, ahhhhh. [Pause for applause] Maybe I’ll point out some of my favorite plants, or ocean waves!

Inspired by the iconic Disney Parks Jungle Cruise attraction, Skipper Society honors the trusty, dry-witted skippers that turn each voyage at Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort and Tokyo Disneyland into a hilarious adventure.

The Experience at Skipper Society on the Disney Treasure

While sipping from a clever craft cocktail menu or sampling a signature waffle treat, guests will hear an array of Disney Parks music, including spiels from beloved Jungle Cruise attractions around the world… like, the backside of water! O2H! O2H!

The venue sits beneath a canopy of tropical foliage and is decked out with camp-style furnishings in natural colors. You can find references to the famous attraction throughout the space, from whimsical parrot-shaped chandeliers to postcards brought back from travels abroad. And fun fact: the green and red tones depicted on the walls of Skipper Society are exact color matches to the Jungle Cruise attraction marquee at Disneyland.

Disney Cruise Line welcomed its new ship, the Disney Treasure, during a spectacular waterfront christening celebration Tuesday evening on the Hudson River in New York City. Learn all about it and watch the ceremony below!

Here are all the details from Disney Cast Member Jacqueline Logan:

Disney Cruise Line’s new ship, the Disney Treasure, has officially been christened! Bob Iger, Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company, and Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences, both traveled to New York City to celebrate the historic moment in person and commence the traditional christening ceremony.

“For more than 100 years, Disney stories have filled the world with joy and wonder, capturing the hearts and imaginations of generations across every continent,” said Iger. “And since the launch of the Disney Cruise Line in 1998, our ships have become brand ambassadors that bring our world-class storytelling and the immersive nature of our theme parks to new audiences in new places all over the world.”

In a celebratory tribute to the adventurous stories represented onboard the new ship, Disney Cruise Line lit up the sky with drones depicting beloved Disney characters, including Madame Leota from the Haunted Mansion, Genie from the Walt Disney Studios Animation film, “Aladdin” and Dante from the Pixar Studios film, “Coco.” Following a stunning performance by award-winning singer-songwriter Jordin Sparks, voices from across The Walt Disney Company recited a blessing to bestow good fortune upon the Disney Treasure and its travelers, while a bottle of champagne created from glimmering drones sparkled across the sky. This finale embodied the longstanding maritime tradition of christening, when a godparent blesses a ship before its maiden voyage. In this case, Walt Disney Company cast, crew, Imagineers and employees around the world have the honorary role of godparent for the Disney Treasure. In case you missed it, catch the replay of this Disney Treasure celebration below.

“This is an unprecedented era of growth for Disney Experiences, and a dramatic period of expansion at Disney Cruise Line,” said D’Amaro. “We are more than doubling our fleet to 13 ships by 2031 so that we can bring Disney cruise vacations to even more families across the globe. With the Disney Treasure, we continue to deliver an unparalleled family vacation at sea through the magic of Disney storytelling. The memories our guests create onboard this stunning ship will last a lifetime.”

The Disney Treasure will set sail on its maiden voyage next month on Dec. 21, 2024, bringing adventurous stories from Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel and Disney Parks to life at sea. The impressive lineup of new venues includes the first ever bar inspired by the Haunted Mansion a theatrical dining experience themed to the Pixar Studios film, “Coco,” and an original Broadway-style stage show honoring the Walt Disney Animation Studios film, “Moana.”

Chad & Cindy Nykamp

After years of multiple Walt Disney World vacations, Cindy and Chad's dream of living in Orlando came true in 2010. After friends and family made them their go-to-people for Walt Disney World advice, Cindy and Chad launched DisneyLists.com in August 2015 to share their knowledge and love of Disney. Chad and Cindy have been Disney World Annual Passholders for years, DVC members, together have raced more than 70 runDisney races, and particularly love cruising on the Disney Cruise Line. Chad and Cindy also regularly represent DisneyLists.com at Walt Disney World and Disney Cruise Line media events. While attending these events, they get an insiders view of all the new things that have come to Walt Disney World and Disney Cruise Line. These experiences have helped them gain knowledge and expertise they happily pass on to their followers. They still can't believe how lucky they are to have such an amazing opportunity and will continue to share Disney with anyone who will listen!
