NEW REVIEW: The Beak and Barrel, A Pirate-Themed Tavern in Magic Kingdom – What You Need to Know

Starting August 29, 2025, Walt Disney World welcomes The Beak and Barrel, a first-of-its-kind experience, to Magic Kingdom Park. The Beak and Barrel is a lively new tavern located in Adventureland, inviting swashbucklers, scoundrels, bandits, and buccaneers of all ages to experience the pirate life. This latest adventure brings fresh energy to Magic Kingdom – full of thirst-quenching tropical beverages, delicious small bites, sing-alongs, storytelling, and enchanting surprises waiting to be uncovered by the whole family. We had the opportunity to get a preview of the new tavern and thoroughly enjoyed our time! Learn more about the new tavern below.
1 – Step Inside the World of “Pirates of the Caribbean”
With nods to the classic “Pirates of the Caribbean,” stepping inside the Beak and Barrel, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped inside the world of the attraction and the beloved films. Guests are transported to the pirate life as magic stirs around the tavern. Between bites of grub and sips of grog, tavern patrons will find themselves swept into a sing-along, stomping to stirring shanties, or trading tales with pirates from every corner of the Seven Seas.
2 – Five Spaces to Explore in the Beak and Barrel
Walt Disney Imagineering has done an incredible job with the design and details found in the tavern. With immersive areas to uncover – from The Mess and the Mapmaker’s Room to the Captain’s Quarters and beyond – each holds its own countless details. From ships that engage in fearsome bottle-bound battles to rooms where guests can bring pirating secrets to light, no visit to The Beak and Barrel is ever the same.
Disney Cast Member Kati Gauer shares more about the different rooms inside the tavern:
The Mess
The first large and lively space ye’ll find is The Mess, so named as it was once a mess hall for Spanish soldiers before it was claimed and repurposed by a cunning crew of pirates. Be sure to look up as ye enter to see a ship’s bell. Rumor has it this bell was from Captain Redd’s first ship gifted to Merry at the tavern’s founding. Some say they’re close friends, or perhaps fierce rivals.
Ye’ll also see long tables perfect for pirates to gather ’round and tell tall tales. A hefty old anchor covered in candles makes for a fine chandelier. Ye will also see the detailed Mermaid Windows to ye side, salvaged from the wreckage of an infamous pirate ship, caked with barnacles and filled with mystery.

At the far end of the room, the dark corner known as The Brig still bears the bars and framework of its past life – though the door rests nearby, pried off its hinges long ago. Should ye find yourself seated here, best mind your manners … for some say the walls remember every rascal they’ve kept.
Cursed Bar
Brimming with an impressive collection of rare bottles and prized spoils kept behind lock and key, the massive skull-shaped bar – anchored to the side of The Mess – is the eye-catcher of the space and has heard many, many shanties sung in its shadow.

At its heart rests the Enchanted Rum Bottle, an ornate bottle of grog, which sits in a place of honor in its own special cove. Gifted by a powerful enchantress, the tavern’s barrels and the pirates’ cheer will never run dry as long as the bottle stays full. Let’s hope ye won’t be left asking, “Why is the rum gone?”
Perched atop the bar, Rummy welcomes patrons and keeps an eye on the crew, quick with a story, joke, or song as he wobbles out from his main roost in the hollow of the skull’s eye.
Captains’ Quarters
As ye step into the Captains’ Quarters, expect a taste of the finer life. Once the private residence of the Spanish Comandante, its walls were lined with grand artwork and rich drapery. Yet time – and the rowdy hands of pirates – have left their mark with slashing blades and hot embers.

In the center of The Captains’ Quarters, an elegant fireplace provides a warm glow, and atop the mantel rests miniature ships in glass bottles. Yet ye need to be on the lookout, as these here small vessels are known to come alive and engage in a fearsome bottle-bound battle for any who dare to watch.
Captains’ Booths
Along the wall, find four grand booths with intricately carved wooden panels. Each booth tells stories of the exploits of notorious pirates, whose legends still echo across the seas.

Tucked further in the space, venture into a private sitting room where pirates partake in their favorite games of skill and chance. Ye may spy the telltale signs of past matches … and perhaps a warning for any bandits thinkin’ of bending the rules.

Mapmaker’s Room
The Mapmaker’s Room is filled to the brim with rolled up maps, pieces of parchment, spilled ink and many treasured secrets that belonged to a (some may say) crazed pirate cartographer.
Now, pirates gather round the sprawling worktable in the center of the room, where the Mapmaker would have spread out his tools and set to work. On the adjacent wall is a large painted map of the known pirating world, with many pirating secrets to be discovered … will ye be the one to bring them to light?

3 – Food and Beverage Offerings
The Beak and Barrel will immerse guests in the story with fun, flavorful food and beverage offerings.
For a snack, try Island Provisions, a shareable dish featuring plantain chips, blue corn tortillas, and toasted flatbread served with various savory dips – or Kraken’s Katch, a cold salad with octopus tentacles marinated in lemon and lime juice, paired with olives, bell peppers, avocado, and Piquillo pepper-almond foam.
Enjoy beverage creations like The Cursed Treasure, a family-friendly non-alcoholic concoction – which features a delicious combination of coconut milk and cookie crumbs topped with vanilla foam and a pirate’s gold cookie – or the Plunderer’s Punch, featuring Kraken Black Spiced Rum, blackberry, vanilla, and a hint of citrus. This specialty drink arrives in a keepsake pirate skull mug – so guests can bring home a treasure of their own. (Limit – one per guest.)

The full beverage menu features a wide range of cocktails, as well as wines and spirits, along with an exclusive selection of draft beers.

4 – The Beak and Barrel Merchandise
To commemorate their stint in the pirate life, guests can seek their bounty at the store next door, Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar. Treasures include a Beak and Barrel T-shirt and a Parrot Shoulder Plush companion.

5 – Know Before You Go
This 45-minute experience welcomes pirates of all ages and unfolds in an enclosed space with low lighting levels and lively activity. The pirate crew breaks out in song, and there are several different “shows” that the crew will perform, very similar to the experience at Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto.
While underage pirates are welcome inside the tavern, guests must be 21 years of age or over to consume alcohol, and a valid photo ID is required. At The Beak and Barrel, the maximum number of alcoholic drinks per guest is two.
Reservations are now open and are highly recommended to experience The Beak and Barrel, and can be made through the MyDisneyExperience app. Guests need both a valid park admission and park reservations for Magic Kingdom on the same date to experience.
