Disney Cruise Line’s standout Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade float, “Magic Meets the Seas,” will once again sail through the streets of New York City and across a TV screen near you—this year with a brand-new signature song and Disney Destiny-themed performance. The showstopping float and holiday performance will star Captain Mickey Mouse, Captain Minnie Mouse, and a crew of their valiant friends as they celebrate the launch of the highly anticipated Disney Destiny this month. In true villain style, mischief makers Cruella de Vil, Maleficent, and Dr. Facilier will commandeer the performance with a choreographic takeover set to the tune of “This is Your Destiny,” an infectious anthem written especially for this heroes-and-villains themed ship.

The curious cast of characters set to appear in Disney Cruise Line’s Parade performance hint at some of the dastardly delights awaiting guests onboard the Disney Destiny. From a new Cruella de Vil-inspired lounge to unexpected encounters with Dr. Facilier in the ship’s Grand Hall, cruisers will be able to interact with their favorite Disney villains in all-new ways. The Disney Destiny will also bring a lineup of heroic Disney stories to sea with a “Disney Hercules” Broadway-style stage show, Incredibles-themed sweet shop and a first-of-its-kind The Lion King restaurant, which will feature live musical renditions of songs from the beloved Walt Disney Animation Studios’ film.

Easy to recognize on the Parade route by its unique design, the “Magic Meets the Seas” float unites eight distinct Disney Cruise Line ship bows in a nod to the unprecedented growth of the fleet, which will expand to 13 ships by 2031. The float’s return to the iconic Parade builds on Disney’s excitement for families to experience unforgettable vacations in magical destinations around the world.

You’re among the first to hear “This is Your Destiny,” the soundtrack for Disney Cruise Line’s parade performance. The song’s empowering lyrics convey a heartfelt message to step boldly into your own destiny and evokes a sense of purpose, strength, and self-realization. The Disney Destiny is Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, and we’re in love. We just finished a three-night preview cruise on the Disney Destiny and were blown away by the unique experiences this ship has to offer. As sister ship to the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure, we were wondering if the Disney Destiny would be different enough to sway our opinion that the Disney Treasure is the best ship in the fleet. While we will continue to sing the praises of the Disney Treasure, we can also wholeheartedly recommend the Disney Destiny for a unique cruise vacation that is an experience all its own. Learn about the thirteen exclusive offerings on the Disney Destiny you don’t want to miss!

1 – One-of-Kind Heroes and Villains Theme and Design

The Disney Wish has a theme of fantasy. The Disney Treasure has a theme of adventure. The Disney Destiny sets itself apart with a first-of-its-kind design theme of “Heroes and Villains.” The theme is more story-driven than ever before. Disney Cruise Line and Walt Disney Imagineering teams looked to Disney’s tales of heroism and purpose, along with guest favorite Disney Villains, to create a special experience for guests to be inspired, encouraged, and empowered by heroes and villains alike. The ship’s design is a celebration of the many characters at the heart of the many myths and legends, fairy tales, and fantasies from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Disney Parks.

And, for the first time in Disney Cruise Line history, a Marvel Super Hero is the signature stern character on the Disney Destiny, with a larger-than-life sculpture of Spider-Man and his Spider-Bots decorating the filigree on the back of the ship. We loved seeing Spider-Man on the back of the ship and it was great to interact with Marvel characters like Loki on the ship as well.

Overall, the heroes and villains theme was executed well. Having been on the Wish and Treasure, even though the layouts of the ships are the same, the feel and personality of the Destiny is distinct and very different. You won’t feel like you’re on the same ship. While some spaces are the same, there are so many unique offerings that you’ll get a very different experience on the Destiny, one we think you’ll love.

Epic Entertainment & Fun Bringing Disney Stories to Life

Disney Cruise Line is known for its amazing entertainment, and the offerings on the Disney Destiny feature many brand-new experiences that immerse families in legendary worlds, both real and imagined, through unparalleled Disney storytelling.

2 – The Grand Hall and New Type of Interactive Programming

The Grand Hall is often referred to as the heart of a Disney Cruise Line ship. It’s where so many things happen, from those first moments of stepping onto the ship, to character meet and greets, to other special surprises throughout the cruise. The design of the Grand Hall is inspired by Marvel Studios’ Black Panther films, including a stunning statue of the Black Panther himself at the heart of the space. We loved this space for its unique Wakanda-themed design, especially the Black Panther statue, the first Marvel character to be featured in a Disney Cruise Line Grand Hall.

On the Disney Destiny, the Grand Hall also comes to life with new immersive shows and interactive programming. We were really impressed by how the Grand Hall changed with its 360-degree lighting effects and mood, depending on which characters are present, like purple for the Black Panther and green for Loki. The lighting and effects technology really transform the space, immersing you in the programming.

3 – New Ways to Interact with Disney Villains

While the Disney Destiny showcases both heroes and villains, the ship offers Disney Villains fans a whole new way to interact with their favorite characters. Guests can encounter formidable foes — such as Hades, Captain Hook, and Mr. Smee — along with some of Disney’s most mischievous and misunderstood personalities, like Captain Jack Sparrow and Bruno, through a variety of shows, meet-and-greets, and special appearances throughout the ship.

Here are the exclusive new ways to interact with favorite villains, rogues, and mischief-makers, including:

• Two brand-new entertainment experiences with Cruella de Vil at the new De Vil’s piano lounge, where guests can either put their personal style to the test on Cruella’s very own wretched runway or take part in a bit of treble-making as they create a lyrical tribute to her marvelousness. We’ll have more on De Vil’s in an upcoming article, but we’ll say now that Cruella’s performance was outstanding and is not to be missed!

• Facilier is lurking around the Grand Hall with dazzling parlor tricks, sleights of hand, and games of chance.

• Maleficent holds court at Saga, where guests can witness her magical prowess from afar or dare to approach her for an up-close and personal demonstration.

• Loki, the fan-favorite character from Marvel Studios’ films and the “Loki” television series, will try to declare himself ruler of the ship and its occupants, creating chaos throughout the voyage with grand proclamations, questionable storytelling, surprise competitions, and more.

4 – Disney Hercules Broadway-style Show

Finally, guests will be thrilled to see an original Broadway-style production, “Disney Hercules” at the Walt Disney Theater. This all-new headliner, a dazzling retelling of the beloved Walt Disney Animation Studios film, was developed exclusively for the Disney Destiny. Complete with show-stopping performances, legendary music and state-of-the-art effects, this modern adaptation recounts the timeless tale starring Hercules, Megara, Hades and the larger-than-life personalities of their mythical world. We will have a full review of this show, but its production and talent blew us away. Hercules and the Muses were outstanding. Disney Hercules is a show you don’t want to miss!

5 – New AquaMouse Storyline

The AquaMouse, Disney’s water coaster at sea, will have an all-new exclusive storyline filled with Disney Animation villains. “Sing a Silly Song” is a new show that exemplifies the signature silliness of Mickey Mouse animated shorts as Mickey and Minnie lead guests on a seemingly ominous trek to the peak of Villain Mountain. When faced with some of the most fearsome villains of Disney Animation lore, the duo will employ a silly song — and a bit of pixie dust — to transform each chilling encounter into a wacky surprise. This attraction is so much fun, and I loved the new storyline. You’ll see classic Disney villains in a whole new way. More on “Sing a Silly Song” to come!

Legendary Family Dining Experiences

There is also a brand-new family dining experience exclusive to the Disney Destiny.

6 – Pride Lands: Feast of the Lion King

Fans of “The Lion King” will love the new Pride Lands: Feast of the Lion King, a first-of-its-kind dining experience celebrating the renowned Walt Disney Animation Studios film. Guests will enjoy a retelling of Simba’s story from cub to king, from a colorful ensemble of live musicians and storytellers. You’ll enjoy a musical journey through the award-winning soundtrack, highlighting iconic songs and legendary moments of the film. A uniquely themed menu with authentic African spice blends, sauces, grains, and produce adds to this exceptional dining experience, allowing families to expand their horizons with traditional dishes from across the continent and discover new spins on Disney Cruise Line guest-favorite dishes. We loved our dinner at Pride Lands and will share more in a future review article.

7 – 1923 Themed for Heroes and Villains

On the Disney Destiny, the restaurant 1923, named for the founding year of The Walt Disney Company, also received an update to its theming. Throughout the restaurant, guests can view more than 1,000 drawings, props, and other tools of the animation trade on display. The artwork of 1923 showcases tales of heroes and villains in “Hercules,” “Sleeping Beauty,” “Big Hero 6,” “Wreck-It Ralph,” and more.

8 – Edna Á La Mode Sweets

The Disney Destiny also offers a one-of-a-kind confectionery serving a marvelous selection of handmade gelato, ice cream, cookies, candies, and specialty treats, all from Edna Mode’s lab, where the famed fashion designer whips up outfits for the world’s most famous Supers in Pixar’s “The Incredibles” films. The all-new Edna Á La Mode Sweets is a must-do spot on the Disney Destiny.

Villainous Fun for Adults

Disney Cruise Line isn’t just for kids, and the Disney Destiny takes that to a whole new level with some of the best venues, offerings, and entertainment tailored just for adults. Nearly every bar and lounge aboard the ship features brand-new designs and menus inspired by the larger-than-life personalities of epic Disney stories, brought to life through elevated interpretation and refined theming.

9 – The Sanctum

The Sanctum is a must-do for any fan of Doctor Strange. This space is Disney Cruise Line’s first lounge inspired by the powerful sorcerers and mystical artifacts of Doctor Strange. Guests will enjoy seeing familiar icons, such as the Cloak of Levitation and spellbooks from the library of Kamar-Taj. The food and beverage team has come up with some seriously incredible drinks that will blow you away. The parlor also hosts a variety of activities throughout the voyage. We really enjoyed our time here.

10 – De Vil’s

The new De Vil’s piano lounge is a whole new experience you don’t want to miss. The piano lounge is located just off the Grand Hall and includes not only design elements and nods to the famous over-the-top Disney villain Cruella de Vil, but also two distinct “shows” where guests can interact with her in new ways. The drinks include trendy martinis, chic cocktails, and glamorous wines and bubblies in an extravagant atmosphere evoking Cruella’s infamous flair for style.

11 – Cask & Cannon

It does seem a bit unbelievable that it took seven Disney Cruise Line ships to get a pirate-themed lounge, but finally, Disney Cruise Line has delivered with the new Cask & Cannon. The lounge is inspired by the iconic “Pirates of the Caribbean” attractions at Disney Parks around the world and is perfectly themed. The cozy pub is furnished with “acquired” treasures (read: pillaged and pilfered) that will make any Pirates of the Caribbean fan smile. The lounge is the place to come for live sporting events. There is an extensive menu of rare, specialty, and vintage rums, along with a selection of “bootlegged” brews developed specially for the venue and served straight from the barrel in true pirate style. We spent the most time in this lounge during our cruise. More to come!

12 – Haunted Mansion Parlor

The Haunted Mansion Parlor debuted on the Disney Treasure, and we love that it was again included on the Disney Destiny. If you’ve visited the lounge on the Treasure, you know how amazing the space is. It’s the best thing Disney Cruise Line has ever done! Guests on the Destiny will be treated to a new menu and novelty items made just for the Destiny.

13 – Hero-Worthy Accommodations

Disney hero fans will love the accommodations on the Disney Destiny. Each stateroom showcases custom artwork depicting the epic journeys of famous Disney legends, evoking a sense of awe and inspiration as families rest, reconnect, and dream of far-off places. Staterooms feature themes from the movies “Brave,” “Big Hero 6,” “The Incredibles,” “Raya,” “Hercules,” and “Mulan” on decks six through ten. Concierge suites have a Fantasia theme, while Royal suites are themed to “Hercules” and “The Incredibles.” Finally, the Destiny Tower Suite is an opulent Marvel-inspired penthouse that honors Iron Man’s mighty legacy with a luxurious take on Tony Stark’s sleek, industrial design. No matter which room type you choose, there is a hero’s room just for you!
