Disney Announces New Magic Kingdom Restaurant

Jungle Cruise Themed Restaurant to Open in Adventureland

It’s official. Just announced at the 2015 D23 Expo, Magic Kingdom with soon be adding a new restaurant to their dining line up. The announcement should thrill fans of the Jungle Cruise. Jungle Navigation Co., Ltd. Skipper Canteen will be opening in former site of the Adventureland Veranda.

According to the Disney Parks Blog, guests will be able to experience “World Famous Jungle Cuisine” in one of several unique dining rooms – including a crew mess hall and a once-hidden secret meeting room of the famed Society of Explorers and Adventurers. The restaurant will also be staffed by Jungle Cruise Skippers.

Let’s hope the food is better than the jokes. :)

The long neglected space has recently been used for character meet and greets, but fans have been hoping for the return of a dining option. Speculation was high that an announcement was coming after the recent refurbishment and expansion of the Liberty Tree Tavern kitchen (which will be shared with the new restaurant).

Jungle Cruise. Jungle Navigation Co., Ltd. Skipper Canteen is expected to open in late 2015.

Chad Nykamp

Husband, father and lover of all things Disney. Like every kid, I loved Disney and the couple trips I took to Disney World in my early years are good memories. But my obsession began in 2004 when we made our first family visit. It's hard to believe that we almost cancelled the trip because it seemed like a lot of work with 3 very little kids. We were hooked by the end of the first day. By day 3 we were planning our next trip back. By day 5 we were doing the math on DVC. And by the end of the vacation everyone was crying the blues that we had to leave. Since then, Disney World has become our favorite vacation destination, a hobby and now a home. We love the detail of the story telling and the memories of time spent with friends and family.
