Bang For Your Buck: Best Snack Items for the Disney Dining Plan

When you’re staying at a Disney World, you have the opportunity to enjoy the Disney Dining Plan with snacks being included in each plan. When it comes to using your snack credits, it can be difficult to decide what you should try. Many guests are looking to get the most bang for their buck when it comes to using the credits so to help you plan, we have put together a list of the best snack items for the Disney Dining Plan.

9 – Pretzels

In each of the parks, there are different kinds of pretzels available for guests to try. If you’re looking for the classic Mickey soft pretzel, you can find it in places like the Anaheim Produce cart in Hollywood Studios. For a twist on the classic, try the Sweet Cream Cheese Pretzel at the Lunching Pad in Tomorrowland. You could also try a more adventurous pretzel at the Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe in the Norway Pavilion at Epcot, where there are Sweet Raisin Pretzels drizzled with icing and either chocolate or toasted almonds. Whatever choice you make, the Pretzel is an excellent use of your snack credit.

8 – Starbucks

For guests who are looking for a cup of java, Starbucks has been a welcomed addition to the parks. As a bonus, almost all of the beverages available can be enjoyed by using a snack credit. This includes any size of coffee, tea, espresso, frappuccino, smoothie, mocha, or latte. It’s great to know that your drink is covered by the dining plan, no matter what size you require to give you that extra perk for your day in the park.

7 – Zebra Domes

Zebra Domes are available at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and have a dedicated fan-following. Available at both Boma – Flavors of Africa or The Mara. These delectable treats are Amarula mousse domes covered with a white chocolate ganache and then stripped to look like a zebra. Whether it’s a perennial favorite or you have never tried one, it’s always a great idea to make your way to the Animal Kingdom Lodge resort for these treats alone.

6 – Create Your Own Treat

In Disney Springs, Goofy’s Candy Company has been a mainstay that brings in lots of guests who are looking to satisfy their sweet tooth. While there are lots of items to try that are already made in-house, guests can also choose to make their own treat. If you are planning on using a snack credit, you can choose to customize a Crispy Rice Treat, Marshmallows, or Cookies. You get to select one coating, one topping and one drizzle on top, making it difficult to decide with delicious options like coconut, Reese’s Pieces, walnuts, Mini M&M’s and more. You may have to try several different combinations to find the one that’s perfect for you.

5 – Cupcakes

In each of the parks and at every resort, there are signature cupcakes that can be found. While the cupcakes come in all shapes, sizes, and flavors, they are consistently delicious across the board, which makes for an incredibly difficult decision. One of the fan-favorites is the Zebra Cupcake at the Kusafiri Coffee Shop in Animal Kingdom. There are, however, a couple of spots for Cupcake aficionados. While the Be Our Guest Restaurant requires you to have a meal there to enjoy the “grey stuff” Master’s Cupcake, places like Sweet Spells in Hollywood Studios offer a display case full of delectable cupcakes.

4 – Epcot Festival Items

At Epcot, during both the Flower and Garden Festival in the spring and the Food and Wine Festival in the fall, several additional food stands pop up throughout the park. Each stand offers a unique selection of dishes and drinks to try. While many of the items are covered by the snack credits, one of the little known facts about the dining plan is the fact that guests can trade 1 quick service meal for up to 3 snack credits in the same transaction. So if you were hoping to try lots of items on each menu, converting your credits might help you enjoy them without breaking the bank. With menus that change from year to year, it’s always a safe bet that there will be something delicious that appeals to you.

At $7.50 the New England Lobster Roll is one of the best uses of a snack credit.

3 – Epcot Bakeries

Throughout the World Showcase, several bakeries feature snacks from each of the respective countries. For a chance to sample delicious treats from around the world, it’s hard to go wrong with any choice here. School Bread from the Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe in the Norway Pavilion is incredible, as are the churros from the Mexico Pavilion, the decadent caramel treats from Karamel Kuche in the Germany Pavilion and the sweetest baklava you’ve ever tried from the Morocco Pavilion. You could also try anything literally from Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie in the France Pavilion and walk away with a massive grin on your face.

2 – Dole Whip Float

In the hot Florida heat, there is no snack better at cooling you off with its deliciously refreshing taste than the Dole Whip Float. Pineapple soft-serve floating on a bed of pineapple juice combine to make this iconic snack one of the best in Walt Disney World. As the priciest item on the Aloha Isle menu, it’s also a perfect use of your snack credit. Get one early and then continue to get them often as they are a great way to cool off and enjoy the sweet taste of pineapple.

1 – LeFou’s Brew

Over in Gaston’s Tavern, a rival to the Dole Whip appears in the form of LeFou’s Brew. While it hasn’t garnered the same fan-following, it is delicious none the less. Frozen apple juice with a hint of toasted marshmallow, topped with a passion fruit-mango foam combine to make this wonderful concoction. To use the snack credit, you’ll have to forgo the souvenir Stein or goblet, but you are still left with a large drink that is well worth using a credit towards.

Ryan Miller

Ryan loves all things Disney: from the smallest details to the biggest surprises and all of the magic in between. He loves the fireworks of Wishes, the thrill of Tower of Terror and of course, the dining at Disney Restaurants. As of yet, however, he has been unable to replicate his favourite dishes and snacks at home. In between trips, you can usually find him reading about the history of the parks and attractions when he’s not at work for his local public library in Burlington Ontario. Ryan’s favourite Disney moment was proposing in front of Cinderella’s Castle to his (now) fiancée, Lauren.
