7 Top Experiences at Night Outside of the Disney World Parks

It seems like nighttime at Disney is when all of the spectacular activities happen! When in the parks, we have a chance to experience Wishes Nighttime Spectacular, Main Street Electrical Parade, Illuminations, Fantasmic, and Symphony in the Stars. While all of these activities are absolutely incredible, we can still have a fantastic time enjoying the night life outside of the parks. Here are our top 7 experiences at night outside of the parks.

7 – Miniature Golf

Disney World offers two great miniature golf locations: Winter Summerland and Fantasia Gardens & Fairways. When thinking of miniature golf, we tend to think of daytime putting, but instead, check out miniature golfing at night! Both of Disney’s miniature golf locations don’t close until 11pm most days, providing plenty of nighttime fun. The greens, holes, and the surrounding structures that add to the theme of the courses remain beautifully lit so you can enjoy putting into the late hours. Plus, let’s not forget about the benefit of putting after the sun has gone down. You’ll be thankful to be out of the Florida rays!

6 – Splitsville Bowling

Slide those bowling shoes on and get ready for some strikes along with some incredible food. Splitsville at Disney Springs is a popular place at night simply because it’s a fun place to be! Whether you decide to bowl a few games, be seated for a great meal, or just relax at the lounge – you can’t go wrong with Splitsville. We especially love their vast menu with items such as sushi, pizza, nachos, and more!

5 – BoardWalk

Disney’s BoardWalk at night is a great place to be! The streamed lights along the boardwalk seem to make the water glow. The tasty food, snacks, and beverages just add to the boardwalk vibe. This is a great place for a romantic stroll. Don’t forget to check out Jellyroll’s dueling pianos! Or if you’d like, dance the night away at the Atlantic Dance Hall. Tip – if you time it right, you may even see the top of the fireworks in the distance from Illuminations in Epcot and/or Symphony in the Stars at Hollywood Studios.

4 – Electrical Water Pageant

What better way to cap off your day then with a nighttime water parade? It’s not very often you get to see water transportation float by with all sorts of beautiful lights to a fun electronic tune. You might just spot sea creatures, flags, and more stream by. The way the lights reflect off the water at night is just beautiful! Check with Guest Services to confirm times, but typically the best viewing areas and times are as follows: Polynesian Resort (9pm), Grand Floridian Resort (9:15pm), Wilderness Lodge (9:30pm), Fort Wilderness (9:45pm), Contemporary Resort (10:10pm), outside entrance at Magic Kingdom (10:35pm).

3 – Chip ‘N’ Dale’s Campfire Sing-Along

Fort Wilderness is bursting with all sorts of exciting activities, but when it comes to night time fun – check out Chip ‘N’ Dale’s Campfire Sing-Along. Even as adults, we still have fond memories of hanging out by the fire with Chip and Dale. If you bring your own s’more goodies and sticks (also available at Chuckwagon Snack Bar), you can roast a marshmallow and taste a yummy s’more. A guitar playing cowboy plays some of the old time favorites for family and friends to sing along with. You’ll then have a chance to take pictures with Chip and Dale and of course ask for their autographs. This exciting time typically takes place around 8pm nightly. You’ll have a good ole time!

2 – Cirque du Soleil

Editor’s Note: La Nuba has ended it’s long run at Disney Springs. That’s the bad news. The good news is Disney and Cirque are collaborating on a brand new show that will be coming to Disney Springs in the near future. As disappointed as we were to hear La Nouba as closing, we’re sure the new show will be equally spectacular. Stay tuned for updates as show details and dates are released.

It’s as if you’re stuck in one of your crazy dreams! Don’t miss an opportunity to watch the live performance offered at Disney Springs known as La Nouba by Cirque du Soleil. Dancing, music, acrobatics, strange happenings, vibrant colors and costumes – if you blink during this show you will miss something! We find this ticketed event to be one of the top choices for night activities on Disney property because of its’ uniqueness and exciting atmosphere. When the show ends, have a great time strolling through Disney Springs nightlife for shopping and dining.

1 – Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show

Aloha! We rank Disney’s Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show located at the Polynesian Resort as our number one for top experiences at night outside of the parks. Hula dancing, fire dancing, music, and amazing (and we mean amazing!) food – yes, put it in your plans! The food comes served family style in an all you care to eat bountiful supply. Plus, might we add the drinks are tasty as well! Enjoy the Hawaiian inspired show as you sit back and consume the food you can’t stop piling onto your plate. From the moment you walk along the tiki torch lit path, followed by a lei placed around your neck – you know it’s going to be a great night!

What is your favorite night time experience outside of the parks? We’d love to hear from you!

About Mike & Jamie Sylvester

We are Disney nerds. Two kids at heart who love the magic and the memories of Walt Disney World! We follow all things Disney and have great experiences with being Annual Passholders, Disney Vacation Club Members, and RunDisney participants. We enjoy the vacations, day trips, weekend getaways and geek out over the planning of such events. From lodging to dining to Fastpasses we have a spreadsheet for every occasion. Mike’s frivolous Disney goal is to acquire as many MagicBands as possible while Jamie’s goal is to experience as many Disney desserts as possible. Usually there isn’t a day that passes without some discussion of the master plan of our next trip to the happiest place on earth. Most people think we’re normal – until they travel to Disney with us. We have been married for 13 years and are blessed with two children - our 8-year-old daughter and soon to be 2-year-old son. As a family we thoroughly enjoy the magic and the memories at Walt Disney World and are here to help others experience the magic as well.
