Top 6 FastPass Picks for Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Disney FastPass+ is one of the best Walt Disney World services offered to guests. The service allows you to reserve three or more passes per day, per park, to select attractions, entertainment, and more. Having a FastPass+ reservation enables you to enter the FastPass+ lane during a selected time window (one hour). Usually, a FastPass+ reservation can save you a lot of time waiting in seriously long lines. At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, there are a lot of options when it comes to choosing your FastPasses. Disney’s Hollywood Studios also groups the attractions into two tier groups. You can only choose one attraction from Tier One, limiting you in your choice of certain FastPasses. With that in mind, here are our top 6 FastPass choices for Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

6 – Star Tours: The Adventure Continues or Toy Story Mania (Tier 2)

I may be cheating here, but I’m going to give you two options for our number six spot. Both are very popular, and both have similar standby wait times. They are both in Tier 2. Both are big draws for younger kids and families. Which one you choose simply depends on if your family is more of a Star Wars or Toy Story family.

Star Tours: The Adventure Continues has had a resurgence of popularity because of the recent release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the final film in the Skywalker saga. Scenes and destinations from the latest film have been added to the attraction, which is bringing back guests to experience the new changes. Standby wait times have seen a surge in recent months. However, if you get to the park at opening, this one is a great attraction to check off the list in the early morning.

Toy Story Midway Mania is still as popular as ever. This attraction recently moved from Tier 1 to Tier 2, making it a lot easier to secure a FastPass. Standby wait times are generally anywhere from 45 minutes – 1 hour and 30 minutes. Like Star Tours, if you want to ride this, but not use a FastPass, then riding it in the morning before the crowds arrive is the best plan.

5 – Twilight Zone Tower of Terror (Tier 2)

Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is a classic ride that has been thrilling guests for over twenty-five years! Standby wait times can vary widely, but it’s safe to assume that wait times will be over an hour during most of the day, making it the perfect choice for a Tier 2 FastPass.

4 – Rock ‘n Roller Coaster (Tier 2)

Rock ‘n Roller Coaster is one of the few roller coasters on Walt Disney World property, making it very popular, and one of the harder FastPasses to secure at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. If you have thrill seekers in your family, this should be your top pick for the Tier 2 group. Standby wait times are almost always over an hour, and maybe over two hours during busy times. There is a Single Rider line for this attraction; however, the wait for single riders is usually at least thirty minutes, and your party will be split up.

3 – Slinky Dog Dash (Tier 1)

Slinky Dog Dash is as popular as ever since its opening in June 2018. This multi-launch, family-friendly roller coaster is a huge hit with guests of all ages because it’s just so much fun. It’s not as intense as Rock ‘n Roller Coaster, and it offers a thrilling experience for the whole family. Because of this, Slinky Dog Dash has consistently been one of the hardest FastPasses to get at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Generally, waits for this attraction range between 1-3 hours depending on when you visit. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, Slinky Dog Dash, and the upcoming Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway are in Tier One at the park. This means you’ll need to choose one of them for your Tier One selection. Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run’s standby line can often be longer than Slinky Dog Dash, which is why Slinky Dog Dash gets this spot in the lineup.

2 – Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run (Tier 1)

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run is an anchor attraction inside the new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. If you’ve ever dreamed of sitting in the cockpit to operate “the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy,” as either a pilot, gunner, or flight engineer. The experience is a whole lot of fun and was just recently added to the FastPass options in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Be aware that this FastPass is extremely difficult to obtain for guests not staying at a Walt Disney World hotel. Resort guests can choose their selections 60 days out, while the rest choose at 30 days. Early FastPass selection is one of the best benefits of staying at a Walt Disney World resort.

1 – Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway (Tier 1)

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway opened on March 4, 2020, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This attraction is the first Disney ride-through attraction featuring Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, inviting guests inside a Mickey cartoon for a fun-filled adventure where “Mouse rules apply,” and anything can happen! There is a regular standby line for this new attraction. (Guests will not have to use a virtual queue like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance). FastPass is already available for this attraction. Because it is new and Mickey themed, the standby wait times have been long for this attraction–usually anywhere from 1.5-2 hours long. It usually had the longest wait time between the Tier 1 attractions so we recommend Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway as our number one FastPass pick.

Editors Note – Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is not available as a FastPass option at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
