Another Closing at Hollywood Studios – Mulch, Sweat & Shears

Hollywood Studios will get a little bit quieter after October 10 when longtime street band and part time landscapers, Mulch, Sweat & Shears make their final performance. After 11 years of bringing rock and roll and lots of laughs to the Streets of America, Disney will bring to an end the live entertainment powerhouse. Known not only for playing crowd favorites, MSS specialized in pulling audience members into the show and embarrassing many dads (this one included).

This continues Disney’s current policy of ensuring a month doesn’t go by without removing a reason to visit Hollywood Studios. 2015 has seen the closure of a record number of attractions and merchandise locations at the beleaguered park. Disney recently announced this will also be the final year for Osborne Festival of Dancing Lights, also held in the Streets of America section. One would assume that both of these closures are related to construction beginning on Star Wars land and Toy Story land in early 2016. Don’t be surprised if we also hear an announcement soon on Lights, Motors, Action Stunt Show.

Despite the recent string of closings, we still feel strongly that Hollywood Studios is a must visit for every Disney World guest. Read our Top 8 Reasons.

What do you think? How long before the stunt show closes? What do you think will be the next closure?

Chad Nykamp

Husband, father and lover of all things Disney. Like every kid, I loved Disney and the couple trips I took to Disney World in my early years are good memories. But my obsession began in 2004 when we made our first family visit. It's hard to believe that we almost cancelled the trip because it seemed like a lot of work with 3 very little kids. We were hooked by the end of the first day. By day 3 we were planning our next trip back. By day 5 we were doing the math on DVC. And by the end of the vacation everyone was crying the blues that we had to leave. Since then, Disney World has become our favorite vacation destination, a hobby and now a home. We love the detail of the story telling and the memories of time spent with friends and family.
