TRAVEL LOG: Day 7-Part 2 of Our Pixar Day at Sea Cruise on the Disney Fantasy

On our final full day of our Pixar Day at Sea cruise on the Disney Fantasy in January 2023, we spent most of the day on Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island. I was eager to show my sisters the island, and we enjoyed our time there. In the evening, we enjoyed our final Broadway-style production, “Disney’s Believe,” and then said goodbye to the characters during the “See You Real Soon” farewell show. Since there is so much to cover, we’re splitting this into two parts. Part 1 covered our time on Castaway Cay. Part 2 covers our time on the ship during our final day. Learn more below.

1 – Kid’s Clubs on the Disney Fantasy

Before we headed to the island, we enjoyed a short tour of the children’s spaces on the ship. Disney Cruise Line revolutionized the cruise industry with elaborately themed youth areas where a generous sprinkling of pixie dust and beloved Disney characters combine to lead children into their favorite Disney stories. Onboard the Disney Fantasy, there is nearly an entire deck of spaces designed to inspire, entertain and spark the imagination of children.

Here is an overview of each of the children’s areas onboard:

Disney’s Oceaneer Club

Disney’s Oceaneer Club, open to 3-to-12-year-old children, transports kids to the magical lands of Disney fairies, courageous Super Heroes, adventuresome toys, undersea exploration, and Force-filled characters that are out of this world. Here kids will be able to enjoy Marvel Super Hero Academy, Star Wars: Command Post, Andy’s Room, Pixie Hollow, and the Magic PlayFloor.

Disney’s Oceaneer Lab

Disney’s Oceaneer Lab takes 3-to-12-year-old children on a journey of discovery and exploration.

Upon entering the main hall, filled with maritime instruments and nautical artifacts, children feel as though they are embarking on a great adventure. At the main hall stage, kids can create and star in swashbuckling performances, hear stories of great expeditions and watch movies. There is another Magic PlayFloor and an Animator’s Studio.

Connecting the Disney’s Oceaneer Club and the Disney’s Oceaneer Lab are two workshops. In these specialized areas, kids concoct creations in an interactive science lab, conduct crazy experiments, express their creativity through art projects, stretch their culinary skills and participate in other hands-on activities.

It’s a Small World Nursery

In the It’s a Small World Nursery, infants and toddlers up to age 3 enter a whimsical world inspired by the classic Disney theme park attraction and original artwork by Disney Legend Mary Blair. Children in the nursery’s main play area are welcomed by cheerful, three-dimensional façades resembling the nursery’s namesake Disney attraction. Interactive, hands-on features, such as horns that honk, wheels that spin, and buttons to press, are sure to delight curious kids. A boat in the center of the room “floats” on a river pattern along the soft-surface floor and is surrounded by colorful, kid-sized tables and chairs for toddlers to enjoy crafts, books, and games.

At the back of the nursery, a separate room with a serene motif and a calm, quiet atmosphere is reserved for naptime.

There are also spaces for tweens and teens. Edge is a tween club for tweens ages 11-14. Vibe is for guests ages 14-17. These spaces are equally fun and perfect for the kids’ ages.

2 – Royal Court

After a fantastic day on the island, it was time to get cleaned up and get ready for dinner. This was our final dinner at Royal Court, a dining location inspired by Disney classics “Cinderella,” “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” “Beauty and the Beast,” and “Sleeping Beauty.” The décor features ornate details and custom furnishings and fixtures that incorporate iconic symbols from the films: glass slippers, apples, roses and tiaras.

At Royal Court, custom lighting fixtures modeled after Cinderella’s coach adorn the room. With careful attention to detail, the Royal Court’s chandeliers, chair backs, and columns with marble bases and fluted tops are fashioned after those seen in Beauty and the Beast. Wall sconces, decorative patterns, throne-style chairs, and the circular floor plan are recreated from Cinderella.

Royal Palace décor includes a hand-blown centerpiece chandelier with glass slippers accents, luxurious custom carpeting with a pattern of flourishing roses, and ornate marble floors—including a “family crest” of inlay featuring a tiara crown, a glass slipper, rose, and apple. The Royal Palace’s circular floor plan, fluted columns, and iron railing work are recreated from the “Cinderella” ballroom scene. Wall sconces are fashioned after those in “Beauty and the Beast.” Hand-crafted mosaic tile murals of the princesses—Cinderella, Snow White, Belle, and Sleeping Beauty (Aurora) —and their princes grace the far wall.

3 – ‘Disney’s Believe’

We also enjoyed the last of the three Broadway-style productions during our cruise, where we were treated to “Disney’s Believe,” a stage spectacular that combines a heartfelt story with a captivating musical score. The lavish production tells the story of a workaholic father who, through the power of Disney magic, reconnects with his daughter and learns a valuable lesson about what is important in life.

“Disney’s Believe” takes guests to the garden of Dr. Cornelius Greenaway, a brilliant botanist obsessed with cultivating his precious plants. Dr. Greenaway is so preoccupied with his garden that he overlooks the birthday of his daughter, Sophia. Saddened, Sophia makes a special birthday wish, and the impossible happens: Genie from Disney’s “Aladdin” appears to make her wish come true.

Joined by a host of characters, Genie takes Dr. Greenaway on an enchanting journey into the world of Disney stories. Through spirited production numbers, Dr. Greenaway learns that magic is real and is embodied in his beloved daughter.

More than 20 of Disney’s most beloved characters take the stage during “Disney’s Believe,” including Cinderella, Peter Pan, Mary Poppins, Belle (“Beauty and The Beast”), Rafiki (“The Lion King”), and Princess Tiana (“The Princess and the Frog”).

This was the second time I had seen this production; just like before, it was fantastic. Once again, Genie was perfect, and he stole the show. We highly recommend this show! Read our full review at the link below.

4 – See You Real Soon

On the final night of every Disney cruise, you can enjoy a short farewell show, ‘See Ya Real Soon,’ in the lobby atrium. It starts with the characters being welcomed. Then, you’ll have about twenty minutes to greet the characters one last time. Finally, there is a short farewell celebration with Disney characters and the ship’s crew in a musical finale led by Mickey Mouse. The end of a Disney cruise is always so sad, but the final show makes it a bit easier to say goodbye!
